Chemicals and refined products are part of everyday life. They are in the clothes we wear, the electric vehicles we drive, the medicines we take and the construction materials used to build our homes.
The challenges for this sector are not only to decarbonise but also to develop pioneering products to support customer demand for a more sustainable world.
At Kent, we’re working with clients to support these objectives across the globe. In Canada, our E&C service line have partnered with Pacific Future Energy Corporation to design a ground-breaking Near Zero Emissions Refinery. We performed FEED engineering for Total's hydro-dearomatization process unit in their HDPE plant site in Bayport, Texas. In alternative energy, we provided front end engineering to DKRW for methanol to syngas, for Medicine Bow Fuel & Power in Wyoming, Raven Energy coal to liquids and Australian Future Energy’s Gladstone Project for substitute natural gas.
In Kuwait, our Projects and Commissioning service lines helped deliver KNPC’s Clean Fuel Programme designed to produce low sulphur diesel, during which our teams proudly delivered more than 7.5 million work hours without a lost time incident.
In the Netherlands, our O&M service line are partnered with Shell to maintain their Moerdijk chemical facility for production of ethylene oxide, monoethylene glycol and styrene monomer. We also maintain their Rotterdam Energy & Chemicals Park which is poised to become Europe’s largest producer of sustainable aviation fuel.
Our brownfield engineering team are helping LyondellBasselll optimise and expand their capacity to produce principal products (ethylene, propylene, monomers and ethers among other base chemicals) that are used to produce end products (such as textiles, food packaging, construction materials, automotive parts and high-octane gasoline components).
We’re experienced in a wide range of chemical process technologies. From pilot operations to commercial plants, we’ve delivered successful projects worldwide including:
As we phase out fossil feedstocks, we explore wider low-carbon chemical production to decarbonise the chemicals our society is based upon. In this Tech Talk, our specialist Low Carbon Process Engineers explore the roadmap to decarbonised chemicals and what this means for future carbon footprints.
