ExxonMobil Fawley Petrochemical Complex Upgrade
Kent is working with ExxonMobil on their £800 million investment to upgrade the Fawley Petrochemical Complex, the UK’s largest integrated petrochemical site. This transformative project is scheduled for completion in Q3 2025 and forms a key part of ExxonMobil’s strategy to enhance fuel production capabilities and support energy resilience in the UK.
Our scope of work includes:
- Project management
- Engineering and procurement
- Module fabrication and logistics
- Completions and commissioning
The project was awarded in March 2022 to an alliance comprising Kent, Taylor Woodrow, and BGEN, for the Project Management, final Detailed Engineering, Procurement, construction, completion, and commissioning of a new Diesel Hydrotreater and a Steam Methane Reforming Hydrogen Plant. The scope covered associated foundations, equipment, pipework, electrical, and instrumentation works.
The upgrade enables the production of low-sulphur diesel aligned with the Euro 7 emissions standards set for 2025. It is expected to increase diesel production at Fawley by 40% and reduce diesel imports to the UK by approximately 25%.
