In 2015, Kent became the multi-disciplinary (Piping & Mechanical, Civil and Electrical & Instrumentation) service provider at Pernis and the Europoort tank farm, initially for three years and following significant managed improvements in overall efficiency the contract was subsequently extended for a further two years. In 2020, we were re-awarded a new 5-year contract, a strong indicator of Shell’s trust in us to continue to provide value-driven service at the highest standards of performance.
Kent's scope is for multi-discipline services across all the production units and tank farm areas including refurbishment works associated with the columns / furnaces in the MLO Factory (Moerdijk Lower Olefins) which include the Ethylene Unit and Steam Cracker, the MEOD Factory (Moerdijk Ethylene Oxide and Derivatives) for the production of ethylene oxide and monoethylene glycol & the MSPO (Styrene Monomer & Propylene Oxide Plant) Factory. Kent's scope includes pre-commissioning services (Mechanical and Electrical) including support to Shell during commissioning and start-up.
With a total yearly turnover over 550,000 manhours, Kent plays an important role in the overall safety and quality performance of the Shell operations on the largest European refinery located at Pernis and one of the largest chemical sites located at Moerdijk.
To drive the efficiency within the contract we have utilised the principles of Agile and Lean methodologies, to ensure continuous improvement in day to day work execution activities. The Agile and Lean methodologies are integrated with our digital technologies within our K2 Base Camp room, driving performance daily, weekly and monthly.
