Kent is looking for an experienced UG - civil, and structural Engineer to be based in Mumbai/Vadodara office

Skills and Responsibilities

1. Engineering & Design

  • Design and develop underground civil systems including:
  • Storm water drainage
  • Oily water and closed drain systems
  • Sanitary sewer systems
  • Open drains and culverts
  • Underground fire water networks
  • Utility corridors and crossings
  • Prepare and review
  • Underground layout drawings
  • Profiles and longitudinal sections
  • Manhole, catch pit, sump, and chamber details
  • Ensure proper invert levels, slopes, minimum cover, and routing.
  • Develop trench, bedding, backfilling, and protection details for industrial loads.
  • Consider soil conditions, groundwater levels, and corrosion protection requirements

2. Interdisciplinary Coordination

  • Coordinate UG routing with:
  • Process and utility piping
  • Electrical and instrumentation duct banks
  • Foundations and equipment layouts
  • Roads, paving, and rail crossings
  • Participate in 3D model / BIM reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Resolve clashes between underground and above-ground facilities.
  • Support constructability and sequencing discussions with construction teams.

3. Codes, Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure designs comply with:
  • API, ACI, ASCE
  • BS / EN / IS Codes
  • Client engineering standards and project specifications
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • Environmental regulations
  • Fire and safety requirements
  • Hazardous area drainage segregation criteria

4. Analysis & Calculations

  • Perform and check:
  • Hydraulic calculations for drainage systems
  • Pipe sizing and flow capacity checks
  • Manhole spacing and sizing calculations
  • Trench stability and cover depth checks
  • Grading & earthwork calculations
  • Review vendor drawings and technical documents for UG components

5. Deliverables & Documentation

  • Prepare and review:
  • Design basis and calculation notes
  • IFC drawings and revisions
  • Material Take-Offs (MTOs)
  • Technical requisitions and specifications
  • Support preparation of as-built drawings and handover documents.
  • Respond to site Technical Queries (TQs), RFIs, and field changes.

6. Construction & Site Support

  • Provide engineering support during:
  • Excavation and trenching
  • Installation of underground pipelines and chambers
  • Backfilling and compaction works
  • Review and approve site modification proposals.
  • Assist in inspection, testing, and acceptance of UG works.

7. Safety, Quality & Risk

  • Ensure safe design for:
  • Deep excavations
  • Confined spaces
  • High groundwater conditions
  • Incorporate safety features such as:
  • Heavy-duty covers and gratings
  • Gas-tight or fire-rated chambers where required
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and risk review workshops.
  • Adhere to project QA/QC procedures.

Assist with as-building deliverables In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • B.E / B.Tech Civil Engineering
  • 8–15 years of experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Industrial projects
  • Proven experience in underground civil and utility systems
  • Experience on EPC / PMC projects preferred
  • Strong knowledge of underground drainage and utility design
  • Familiarity with Oil & Gas plant layouts
  • Experience with 2D drawings and 3D model coordination
  • Good understanding of construction practices

Communication:

  • Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • AutoCAD / MicroStation
  • SmartPlant / Navisworks / BIM tools (as applicable)
  • Hydraulic calculation tools (as applicable)
