About the job:
Kent is seeking a motivated, detail oriented Permit to Work Lead to support large-scale LNG and Oil & Gas projects in Port Arthur, Texas.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Permit to Work (PTW) system during the commissioning phase, ensuring all work activities are properly authorized, controlled, and executed in compliance with project procedures and HSE standards.
Reporting directly to the Commissioning Manager, the PTW Lead will support planning and execution activities while providing technical guidance in coordination with Commissioning Discipline Leads. The role also includes supervising PTW coordinators and permit issuers, delivering training on PTW procedures and best practices, and acting as the primary focal point for all PTW-related matters on site.
| Skills and Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities: - Lead and manage the Permit to Work (PTW) system, ensuring full compliance with Control of Work, SIMOPS, and LOTO requirements.
- Oversee permit issuance, tracking, and close-out, ensuring all activities are properly risk assessed and authorized.
- Coordinate daily SIMOPS planning and interface with EPC contractors, Tier 1s, Commissioning, Start-Up, Operations, and PMT.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and troubleshooting support for PTW execution.
- Ensure effective implementation and verification of isolations, LOTO, and zero energy state controls.
- Provide PTW expertise and leadership during commissioning (static & dynamic) and start-up phases.
- Deliver training, coaching, and competency assurance for PTW users and contractors.
- Conduct audits and field verifications to ensure compliance with PTW procedures, permits, and safety requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve PTW-related risks, conflicts, and system inefficiencies.
- Maintain safe work practices including isolations, JSAs, and toolbox talks.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. | Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: |
- College/university degree, technical diploma, or 10 plus years of relevant experience in Project Completion and Operations.
- Proven experience with Permit to Work (PTW) systems during Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, and Operations planning.
- In-depth knowledge of Project Completion standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria, including commissioning and start-up of facilities.
- Strong understanding of Work Authorization and Permit to Work systems and associated safety requirements.
- Familiarity with client practices, processes, and expectations related to work authorization and permitting during Systems Completion, Preservation, Commissioning, and Operations planning.
- Demonstrated strong technical judgment and problem-solving capability.
- Solid understanding of work planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
- Good knowledge of safety, environmental, and PTW requirements within LNG and Oil & Gas operations.
- Strong understanding of work planning, scheduling, and tracking.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in MS Office suite of software programs.
