About the job:
Kent is seeking a motivated and detail oriented PLC Specialist to support large scale LNG / Oil & Gas projects. In this role, you will assist the commissioning team with PLC and control system activities, working under the guidance of the Commissioning Lead. This position includes supporting system testing, basic fault finding, and verification of PLC and control system functionality. You will help ensure systems meet project specifications, HSE requirements, and OEM standards prior to energization and startup.
| Skills and Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities: - Support the I&C Commissioning Lead in executing assigned scope, daily planning, and reporting of progress.
- Assist with field testing, basic troubleshooting, and commissioning activities for PLCs and related control systems.
- Work alongside vendors and client automation teams to support system configuration, logic checks, and integration tasks.
- Support the download, configuring, and verifying PLC programs and firmware under supervision, ensuring alignment with project documentation.
- Participate in Cause & Effect, interlock, permissive, and sequence testing to help validate system functionality.
- Update and maintain redlined PLC I/O drawings, control narratives, and termination diagrams as changes occur in the field.
- Provide support during SCADA/HMI commissioning and help verify accurate data communication between field devices and control systems.
- Coordinate with electrical and instrumentation teams to assist with loop checks, functional testing, and troubleshooting of I/O signals and communication networks.
- Track, document, and help close punch list items, ensuring updates are entered into system completion tools.
- Assist in FAT and SAT activities, including test execution and documentation of results.
- Follow all HSE policies and permit to work requirements while working in active construction and commissioning environments.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. | Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: |
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in PLC commissioning, startup, or automation systems integration within large-scale Oil & Gas or LNG projects.
- Expertise in Allen Bradley, Siemens, or GE PLC platforms; familiarity with Honeywell or Emerson systems is a plus.
- Strong understanding of industrial networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Familiarity with SCADA and HMI systems such as Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or iFIX.
- Proficient with diagnostic tools and software such as RS Logix, TIA Portal, and other PLC configuration tools.

Communication: - Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as required to function effectively within a project team and to communicate with project management, contractors, and subcontractors.

- Supports technical discussions and works effectively with cross functional teams (electrical, I&C, mechanical, operations) to resolve control related issues.
- Maintains strong situational awareness during equipment startup and testing activities.
- Communicates technical information clearly to team members and field personnel.
- Performs effectively in fast paced environments while maintaining professionalism and composure.
- Demonstrates organized work habits and disciplined documentation to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Shows commitment to workplace safety and follows established safety procedures and best practices.
- Physically capable of performing field related duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds when required.
