Role scope

To lead and supervise a team of mechanical technicians in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. To ensure the reliability and operational integrity of essential machinery, including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, and rotating equipment. To ensure that work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and company policies.


Details / responsibilities

• Execute preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on plant equipment, safely and effectively as directed by maintenance supervisor or lead.
• Creating work orders as required of defects found.
• Inspect, test, adjust and repair equipment to satisfy appropriate Governing Standards.
• Work within OEM guidelines
• Demonstrate a level of fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously.
• Execute maintenance activities to ensure the highest standards in reliability and availability are achieved.
• Maintain maintenance registers and databases for site specific equipment and systems.
• Ensure compliance to manufacturers guidelines, maintenance agreements and warrantees.
• Participate in equipment performance checks.
• Maintain maintenance records through effective documentation in conjunction with the Computerised Maintenance Management System.
• Active involvement in hazard hunts to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
• Participate in HAZID reviews
• Participate in RCA
• Work within QGC HSSE & SP Framework
• Conduct Plant Operational Tasks as Required
• From time to time involvement in shutdown activities may be required, including:

Input into handover of equipment for maintenance from and to Operational.
Participate in shutdown Toolbox meetings.
Assist with development of the shutdown maintenance scope of work
Assist with the development of the Job Plan and labour requirements for shutdown maintenance tasks
Assist in the coordination of the mechanical workforce


Qualifications

• High level computing skills – Microsoft Office and CMMS systems (Maximo experience desirable)
• Ability to apply company and industry standards and skilled in the application of functional assurance processes
• Ability to constructively challenge others and negotiate successfully with internal peers, partners and contractors to positively influence decisions and improve ways of working
• Ability to collaborate with other core business areas to provide an engineering service that ensures asset integrity and longevity of plant and equipment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Results orientated with a high level of initiative and capacity to exercise good judgment
• Extensive knowledge of quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies
• High level interpersonal skills
• Ability to focus on the key operational issues and prioritise accordingly
• Cert III Mechanical Trade qualified with the experience and skillsets required to inspect, diagnose, service and rebuild plant and equipment.
• Proven maintenance experience in rotating equipment such as gas engines, screw, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, DGS systems and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Competent in the use of laser alignment equipment, flange management procedures with knowledge of vibration analysis and condition monitoring desirable.
• Valid driver’s license
• Construction white card
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to Level 1 workers.
• Competent at diagnosing and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrable Safety Leadership.
• Hold one or more of the following high risk licenses including but not limited to EWP, dogman, riggers, HIAB/crane, forklift etc. - desirable
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Proven ability to perform in the capacity of acting leading hand.
• Demonstrate the ability to direct / coordinate scopes of work as required.
• Demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills in equipment operation and processing.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to Level 1 and 2 workers.
