About the Role

Kent is seeking a Material Coordinator to support ongoing operations at the Kearl Project in Fort McKay, Alberta. This is a safety-sensitive role that plays a critical part in maintaining site safety, asset accountability, and operational readiness. The position is responsible for the coordination, deployment, maintenance, inspection, tracking, and logistics of gas monitoring systems (including iNet, Honeywell, and BZ1 units), as well as material handling, warehouse coordination, site inspections, and logistics support. The role combines hands-on field and warehouse activities with computer-based asset and inventory management in a fast-paced industrial mining environment. This position is contractual fixed term, starting at 3 months, with the potential for extension, based on project needs.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, store, issue, and return gas monitoring equipment, including Industrial Scientific iNet monitors, Honeywell units, and BZ1 devices
  • Perform charging, bump testing, firmware updates, preventative maintenance (PM), and functional verification prior to issuance
  • Maintain and troubleshoot bump stations, docking stations, calibration gas systems, Safecores, and accessories
  • Verify iNet connectivity and ensure all devices are reporting accurately
  • Issue gas monitors to authorized personnel and maintain accurate asset assignment records
  • Receive equipment at end of shift, update asset status, clean, recharge, and prepare devices for redeployment
  • Download and manage data logs (including BZ1 logs) and distribute reports to required stakeholders
  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, RMAs, and vendor communication related to gas monitoring equipment
  • Perform shipping, receiving, staging, storage, and organization of materials and equipment
  • Conduct town pickups and drop-offs as required, including handling heavier items
  • Unload, verify, and organize cable reels and materials at laydown areas, ensuring accuracy against packing slips
  • Order materials as directed by supervision, site management, and procurement
  • Assist with procurement-related issues and track resolutions
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and asset tracking systems
  • Perform monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, tools, ladders, and AEDs
  • Replace expired or non-compliant safety equipment as required
  • Maintain inspection logs and compliance documentation

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education and experience:

Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:

  • Trade certificate or technical qualification in a related field (minimum requirement)
  • Experience working in a camp-based and/or mining environment on a shift rotation
  • Experience with gas monitoring systems, material handling, and logistics coordination
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to adapt to changing field and operational conditions
  • Strong computer proficiency for asset tracking, reporting, and inventory systems
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records

Communication:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Detail-oriented and process-driven, ensuring all devices are accurately tested, tracked, documented, and ready for each shift.
  • Calm, reliable, and technically confident, able to troubleshoot equipment, manage systems, and perform under the fast-paced demands of a shutdown environment.
