About the job:
Kent is looking for an Instrument Commissioning Technician/Specialist to be based in La Porte, TX and support the La Porte Complex in La Porte, Texas, is a major manufacturing facility that produces essential chemicals such as ethylene, propylene, and various forms of polyethylene (low-density and linear low-density polyethylene). These chemicals are critical in producing everyday products like bottles, packaging, toys, automotive parts, and coatings. Additionally, the plant is known for producing acetic acid and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM), which are used in food-grade applications and industrial manufacturing, such as paints and adhesives.
The complex is strategically located on the Houston Ship Channel and occupies over 550 acres, contributing significantly to the local economy by providing jobs and purchasing local goods and services. It is also home to a Hyperzone polyethylene plant, which uses advanced technology to enhance the production of high-density polyethylene (HDPE).
Skills and Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities: This role will be based at both the LYB La Porte and LYB Bayport locations. - Serve as the primary liaison between clients and construction teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout all phases of the project.
- Provide expert consultation on package development to support efficient project planning and execution.
- Lead efforts in construction issue resolution and troubleshooting to maintain project timelines and quality.
- Assist in the development and progression of projects from early planning through execution.
- Coordinate the planning and scheduling of commissioning activities to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Conduct engineering reviews and provide redline feedback to maintain design integrity and compliance.
- Enforce QA/QC standards with a focus on maintaining safety, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Support field coordination efforts across multiple disciplines to ensure project integration and progress.
- Participate in and support 24/7 commissioning and startup operations as needed.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: | |
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: - Degreed candidate with 3 to 6 years of I&E experience on control systems & brownfield verification.
- Chemical Plant Experience required.
- Experience with assuming a field intensive position and performing substantial fieldwork.
- Incorporates Brownfield verification from an I&E standpoint.
- Experience in participating/engaging in Engineering Design Reviews.
- Knowledge of Operational Readiness (starts at the beginning of the project, identify every task & effort that are required) & Commissioning Preparedness (overseeing development of test plans, test procedures).
- Experience in high-level instrumentation for majority fieldwork and verification.
