The Opportunity:
The E&I Technician role involves executing construction and preservation tasks on plant and equipment for Upstream Brownfields Projects, with a strong focus on safety, technical accuracy, and compliance with standards. As an E&I Technician, you will provide support to the construction team by offering technical advice, troubleshooting issues, interpreting construction drawings, and contributing to planning and design improvements. Responsibilities include equipment inspections, fault finding (particularly on ELV systems for E&I Technicians), assisting in performance checks, and participating in safety reviews (HAZOP/HAZID) and root cause analyses. The role also requires maintaining QA/QC documentation, monitoring contractor activities, managing inventory, and ensuring clean, orderly work areas. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for effective team coordination and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities:
• Execute / perform Project scope construction tasks and preservation activities on plant and equipment, safely and effectively, and provide technical assistance, as
required, to the Upstream Brownfields Projects Construction Supervisor/Team management.
• Support the Upstream Brownfields Projects team through advice and recommendations on improvements in Project construction planning and execution.
• Inspect, test, adjust and repair equipment (including to Hazardous area equipment) to satisfy appropriate governing standards.
• Pre commissioning ELV checks on instrumentation (For E&I Technicians)
• ELV isolations and fault finding on instrumentation and ELV systems (For E&I Technicians)
• Provide technical advice on all instrumented and electrical equipment.
• Assist in equipment performance checks
• Work within OEM guidelines.
• Demonstrate high-quality fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously.
• Interpret Construction drawings
• Input to design change implementation
• Participation in HAZOP & HAZID reviews
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis and Causal Learning
• Feedback on preventative plans
About You:
You are a qualified and safety-conscious electrical professional with a current Electrical Licence recognised by the Queensland Electrical Licencing Board. You hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (UEE30811), along with either a Certificate III in Instrumentation and Controls or a Certificate IV in Electrical Instrumentation. You also possess EEHA certification, a current First Aid and Low Voltage Rescue certificate, and a valid driver's licence with a construction white card.
With a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the oil and gas or similar heavy industry, you bring a strong background in brownfields plant construction and CSG operations. Your technical skill set includes cable installation (ELV, LV, and HV), cable tray/conduit and support installation, as well as installation of ELV and LV equipment.
You are competent in instrument and low voltage isolation and switching, EX equipment inspection (visual, close, and detailed), and are confident in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex issues. You also hold multi-disciplined permits and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety leadership in all aspects of your work.
