The Opportunity:
We have an incredible opportunity for a skilled and experienced Welding Supervisor to join our dynamic team. This isn’t just a job - it’s a chance to showcase your leadership and technical expertise while making a real impact on challenging and innovative projects.
In this role, you’ll work closely with our Construction Leadership team, playing a key part in supervising and coordinating a talented crew of welders. From structural welding to piping and pressure equipment, you’ll oversee critical tasks across Greenfields and Brownfields environments. Whether it’s driving success in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects or supporting SMP installation crews, you’ll be at the heart of our operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute detailed work plans and schedules in collaboration with the SMP Superintendent and Construction Manager.
- Supervise and coordinate daily welding tasks, ensuring productivity, safety, and adherence to project deadlines.
- Oversee team performance, training, and certifications to maintain high safety and skill standards.
- Ensure compliance with AS/ASME/API standards, manage welding consumables, and complete required QA documentation.
- Resolve non-conformances with QA/QC teams and liaise with clients for inspections and technical queries.
- Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
- Provide progress updates, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely submission of timesheets.
About You:
The candidate must hold an Australian-recognized Trade Certificate in Welding, Fabrication, or Boilermaking and a Welding Supervisor Certificate (AS1796 Cert 10). Proven SMP supervisory experience on EPC projects in oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industry is required.
Expertise in GTAW, MMAW, FCAW welding, Carbon Steel, CrMo, Stainless Steel (mandatory), and Inconel Alloys (advantageous) is essential, along with experience in Brownfields/Greenfields construction.
Strong leadership, planning, and HSE knowledge, proficiency in engineering drawings, and familiarity with AS1554 SP, AS1796, AS2214, ASME IX, and AWS D1.1 standards are mandatory.
