The Opportunity:

Kent has multiple exciting and challenging opportunity for enthusiastic Communications Technicians to work as part of the Kent Telecoms team. This team delivers services to Western Australia’s largest LNG facilities. As part of the Maintenance and Support team, this position will offer the responsibility for keeping the communications and electronic systems working effectively and efficiently.

We are looking for 2 telecom technicians to join our team to assist on multiple scopes of work throughout the coming year. Services may be required at various North West WAS operational facilities such as but not limited to Barrow Island and Onslow. Roster for these positions are usually 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.

This positions will be initially casual, with the potential of permanency in future.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative, corrective and break/fix maintenance activities across the operational sites
  • Provide occasional backfill for site-based maintenance personnel
  • Factory Acceptance Testing, installation and system commissioning
  • Assist in system upgrades, modifications and new system installations
  • Interpret customer requirements and implement changes to fulfil those requests
  • Reading and interpreting wiring plans, drawings and specifications
  • Maintain integrity of drawings and documents by following management of change processes. Update drawings and design documents as needed.
  • Communications cabling including fibre optics installation, terminations, splicing and testing
  • Adhere to stringent site safety, permit and environmental principles

Experience/ Qualifications Required:

  • Cert IV in Communications, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent
  • High level of knowledge and experience in analogue radio (VHF, UHF), digital radio (P25, Tetra), and microwave systems
  • Maintenance experience in supporting at least two of the below systems would be advantageous:
    • Radar
    • AIS
    • Satellite
    • CCTV
    • Access Control
    • PAGA
    • Communications Console
  • Registered ACMA Cabling license with structured and coax endorsements
  • High Risk Work License – Elevated Work Platform
  • Working Safely at Heights, Advanced Rigger accreditation
  • MSIC, EEHA and HUET an advantage
  • Class A Electrical license an advantage
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience on diverse RF and Electronic Systems
  • Technical experience in networking, IP connectivity, basic sysadmin tasks
  • Experience working in a live production environment, preferably from within the Oil and Gas sector is preferable
