About the job:
Kent is looking for a Technical Advisor – Naval Architecture to be based in Houston, TX.

The Technical Advisor (TA) positions within the Kent Consulting Business and reports to the Director of Engineering (DE).

You will provide expert knowledge and guidance in your field of expertise to help deliver the Kent USA Consulting Business strategy. This often involves reviewing reports, research materials, or other documents for technical accuracy.

You may be asked to lead or consult on Research and Development activities, often providing verification or fact-checking services. You can serve as subject matter expert (SME) in your field of expertise.

You will provide guidance on interpretation and appropriate application of KMS technical specifications and methodologies for engineering studies or designs. You will often interact with business customers and vendors. You may serve business clients as an expert witness or as Owner’s Engineer (SME).
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical guidance to projects and initiatives.
  • Provides oversight or acts as engineering manager on select projects and activities.
  • Can be called on to provide global technical support in area of expertise to internal and external customers.
  • Supports business as directed to help find solutions to resolve client issues/concerns on technical content or quality of deliverables.
  • May be called upon to help identify or promote innovative solutions to improve product quality and delivery.
  • Supports root cause analyses in areas of expertise.
  • Helps business drive continuous improvement.

Staff Development and Training:
  • Successful mentoring and leading within the organization.

Business Development and Marketing:
  • Supports proposal and CTR development, prepares or reviews technical scopes of work and manhours.
  • Champions implementation of Kent Consulting Business strategy.
  • Participates and represents the organization as needed, in outside associations, conferences, and symposias.
  • Able to provide technical assistance to clients and strengthen relationships.
  • Fosters key client relationships.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.




Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Bachelor's or Graduate's Engineering Degree in their field of expertise.
  • Extensive professional experience and other credentials such as but not limited to Professional Engineer, Ph.D. etc.
  • Prior experience as a consultant.
  • Familiar with pattern recognition and information dissemination typical qualities required for Root Cause analyses.

Communication:
  • Must be able to explain complicated concepts in a relatable way that is easy to understand.
