About the job:

Kent is looking for a Stress Engineer in Calgary Alberta

Skills and Responsibilities:
• Capable of working as Lead Stress Engineer for Units and Areas within sizeable jobs.
• Preparation of Stress specifications, Pipe Support Standard Specifications Critical line list etc.
• Perform pipe stress analysis of lines connected to critical equipment’s like centrifugal compressors/pumps, turbines, jacketed piping, Fired Heaters, Reboilers etc.
• Perform Pipe stress analysis for pipelines as per ASME B31.4/31.8 codes.
• Perform stress analysis of above ground and underground metallic and non-metallic piping.
• Dynamic analysis of piping system in Caesar II using modal, response spectrum methods.
• WRC 107/297 checks.
• Perform pipe stress analysis for brownfield jobs.
• Flange leakage checks as per various options in Caesar II.
• Selection of spring hangers, expansion joints and preparation of their datasheets and conducting their TBA.
• Provide stress markups and support loads to piping layout and Structural team.
• Preparation of stress reports as per Client requirements.
• Review of piping isometrics considering flexibility and supporting.
• Review of drawings and datasheets from vendors.
• Co-ordinating with inter disciplines.
• Working as per the quality and safety requirement standards.
• Adopting a flexible and open approach towards the needs of projects


In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Masters/Bachelor of Engineering
  • APEGA recognized P. Eng. active status
  • Well versed with software’s like Caesar II, Auto pipe, Nozzlepro, Navisworks.
  • Should have sound knowledge in Pipe stress analysis.
  • Knowledge of piping codes and standards like ASME, API, IBR etc.
  • Stress Analysis of Metallic and Non-metallic piping connected to various static and rotating equipment.
  • Design and selection of pipe support, spring. Snubber, struts, expansion joints
  • Must have experience in performing dynamic analysis like seismic, surge, slug, etc.
  • Shall have experience in computational hot tap design and engineering
  • Guiding Junior Engineers.

Communication:

  • Identify/report technical concerns and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices.
  • Should be able to attend project and team meetings.
  • Conduct technical training session for team.
