About the job:

Kent is looking for outstanding candidates to join our successful structural team within our Engineering and Consulting business with a focus on building and supporting decommissioning capabilities to our clients. Our Engineering and Consultancy business is delivering engineering, design and consultancy solutions to the oil and gas, renewables and low carbon sectors all over the world. Our structural teams work on some of the most exciting and varied projects in the onshore and offshore Oil & Gas sector.

Within the Oil & Gas division, our services are focused on upstream operations engineering (i.e., maintaining safe and efficient operations for operators), and offshore engineering - encompassing fixed, floating, and subsea facilities. We support oil and gas facilities around the world and we are the operators’ ‘go to’ company for complex problems in design, engineering, integrity management, structural analysis, life extension, and ultimately decommissioning. Although your role will focus on the Oil & Gas market, you may also be called upon to support projects in other markets, such as supporting our industry-leading work in Offshore Wind structural design and analysis.

We are looking for candidates from Senior Engineer to Principal Engineer level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for heading teams of engineers to deliver various decommissioning scopes for a variety of clients and assets at various stages of the decommissioning process.
  • Communicating and maintaining client relationships.
  • Responsible for performance of structural engineering and decommissioning tasks and activities in accordance with relevant Client, industry and international codes, specifications and standards.
  • Working with others to identify and develop new technical methodologies.
  • Working in a team of very experienced engineers to execute projects.
  • Managing team cost and time targets to deliver an efficient, high calibre engineering service.
  • Prepare clear, concise and high-quality reports and deliverables.
  • Responsible for supervision, checking, guidance and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ensure a safe approach in design and working practices are adopted, following the objectives of the Kent management system and project specific HSE objectives.
  • Ensure fabrication, construction, operational and maintenance, and QHSE issues are addressed in the design. Seeking engagement with third parties where required.
  • Provide input to estimates, schedules and progress reporting.
  • Co-ordination with CAD team and preparation of design sketches to aid production and checking of design drawings.
  • Review of other discipline or third party technical documentation relevant to design.
  • Attendance and participation at decommissioning workshops, HAZIDs and HAZOPs.
  • Early identification of project risks to the project manager.
  • Representation of Kent with Clients, Suppliers / Vendors and Certifying Authorities in a professional manner.
  • Undertake surveys if required, both onshore and offshore, to determine information and allow execution of scopes of work.
  • Opportunity to develop capabilities in line with the requirements of the Kent career paths.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • Strong logical background and a desire to develop in structural decommissioning.
  • Working on multiple fast-paced projects, balancing the need for high-quality design and evaluation with the need to deliver within required time and cost budgets.
  • Building and maintaining client relationships, with a view to winning more work. Contributing to successful proposals and tenders.
  • Day to day operational support to client engineers including representing the company at meetings, production of deliverables and presentations.
  • Ability to support winning work from new and existing clients, through clear and professional communications.
  • Ideally Chartered (ICE, IMechE, IStructE etc.), or actively working towards chartership.
  • Experience of applying appropriate quality assurance and reporting.
  • Drive safe and efficient delivery of technically stimulating projects.
  • Can provide training and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Experience of managing discipline engineers and designers.
  • Experience of offshore structural design and analysis. Linear and non-linear FEA experience in SACS, DNV SESAM, USFOS and ABAQUS or other comparable software package is preferred.
  • Technical understanding of mechanical handling, lifting and installation requirements is preferred.
