About the job:
Kent is looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Cost Specialist to be based in Sabine Pass, TX.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in Cost Management, particularly within the construction industry, with. This position is critical in ensuring the financial success of the project, involving close monitoring of costs, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, as well as collaboration with various stakeholders on-site.
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Cost Management: Monitor, analyze, and report project costs, ensuring alignment with the budget and identifying potential areas of cost-saving.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop, update, and manage project budgets, working closely with project managers and finance teams to produce accurate forecasts and financial models.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed financial reports, including cost variance analysis, cash flow reports, and cost-to-complete estimates. Present findings to senior management and stakeholders regularly.
  • Change Management: Track and report on project changes, including scope changes, ensuring that all financial impacts are accounted for and properly documented.
  • Contract Management: Work with the procurement and contracts teams to manage vendor and subcontractor contracts, ensuring compliance with financial terms and conditions.
  • Invoice Development: Oversee the creation and management of invoices related to project expenditures, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks associated with the project. Propose mitigation strategies to ensure project financial objectives are met.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with on-site project teams, procurement, contracts, and finance departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of cost-related activities.
  • Compliance: Ensure all financial operations on-site comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices in cost control and project management. Suggest and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in cost management processes.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost management within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a site-based role.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in cost management software, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and ERP systems. Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Primavera, SAP) is preferred.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex financial data and present actionable insights.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic, on-site environment.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in financial reporting, cost tracking, and invoice development.

Communication:
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.
