The Opportunity:


As a senior member of the projects team the Senior Construction Manager (SCM) will work closely and communicate effectively with all engineering disciplines, business functions, Kent management and client representatives to ensure the company’s reputation for projects delivery, high quality products and services is maintained.


The SCM will oversee the operating processes used to complete projects. They check that staff members and vendors perform their duties to a high standard to ensure the project runs smoothly, overseeing the needs of the client, and finding ways to improve processes and client feedback.


The responsibilities will include;


  • Ensure Project compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and standards relating to Health, Safety and Environment.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with Kent Policies, Procedures and standards.
  • Understand the company’s systems and Kent’s way of managing projects.
  • Be prepared to attend training in specific company systems and integrate your own Project Management knowledge with these systems.
  • Develop, or assist in the development of project execution plans, proposals and estimates.
  • Prepare the project schedule with input and ‘buy-in’ from the engineering or wider projects team.
  • Work with project planners to ensure the development and maintenance of schedules.
  • Assist with project estimate at proposal stage.
  • Control project costs by reviewing and approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
  • Ensure the Kent business and legal policies including the Integrated Management System (aka Kent Management System) Processes for Project Execution are adhered to.
  • Obtain, coordinate and manage the resources and tools required to execute the project.
  • Preparation of a risk & opportunities register during the different project proposal or planning phase.
  • Read and understand the project contract. Ensure awareness of contracts administrative requirements and ensure delivery of these contractual requirements.
  • Co-ordinate all parties involved, including engineering teams, other business units and sub-consultants.
