About the role:
The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for a wide range of financial tasks and management duties. On top of maintaining a relationship with clients in relation to commercial matters, making suggestions on cost-cutting methods, and exploiting opportunities through change management, the role includes defining project goals, planning and coordinating efforts, ensuring deadlines are met and monitoring progress to provide direction to the team.
They work closely with various departments to coordinate efforts and ensure that costs are kept within budget. The Senior Commercial Manager also supports the negotiations with suppliers, vendors and subcontractors along with the Procurement department, and overseas the project's budget, including tracking expenses and forecasting costs by the Project Controls team. Managing cash flow as well as proactively managing risk are also essential responsibilities of the Senior Commercial Manager. Finally, the Senior Commercial Manager prepares financial reports on the project's progress to inform stakeholders about the project's financial performance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Financial Management: The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for managing the project's financial resources. This includes overseeing the project budget, tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and ensuring that costs are kept within budget. The Senior Commercial Manager also manages cash flow and prepares financial reports on the project's progress to inform stakeholders about the project's financial performance.
Contract Management: The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing the negotiation and management of contracts, ensuring favourable terms for the company. Collaborate with legal and finance teams to review and approve contractual agreements. Monitor contract performance and compliance.
Relationship Management: The Senior Commercial Manager maintains a relationship with the client in relation to commercial matters. They work closely with various departments to coordinate efforts and ensure that project goals are met. The Senior Commercial Manager also supports the negotiations with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors along with the Procurement department
Change Management: The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for exploiting opportunities through change management. They make suggestions on cost-cutting methods and manage risk proactively
Project Planning and Coordination: The Senior Commercial Manager defines project goals, plans and coordinates efforts, ensures deadlines are met, and monitors progress to provide direction to the team. They work with the Project Controls team to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Team Leadership: The Senior Commercial Manager provides direction and leadership to the project team. They work with various departments to ensure that everyone is working towards the same goals and that the project is completed on time and within budget
Stakeholder Management: The Senior Commercial Manager communicates with stakeholders to keep them informed about the project's progress. They prepare financial reports and provide regular updates to stakeholders to ensure that they are aware of the project's financial performance
Driving a culture of "Safety & Respect" by: always taking personal accountability for own safety and being aware of the impact of actions on the safety of others
About You:
Our ideal candidate will possess a Degree in Quantity Surveying and have a solid knowledge in law. You will have excellent negotiating skills and 10 years experience as previous Contract Management roles in a construction environment.
