About the Position:

Kent are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to start on one of our major projects in Queensland and eventually evolve to take on more responsibilities reporting to the Operations Vice President Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities will include pre-contract tasks such as participating in bid submissions, reviewing and interpreting contract documents and requirements, negotiating contract terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring that all contract terms comply with legal and company standards and developing strategies to enhance the company’s market position.

The role will also include overseeing the implementation and administration of contracts within Australia and New Zealand region after they have been awarded. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are executed according to the terms of the contract, within budget, and on schedule

Key Responsibilities:

This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the project is financially viable and completed within budget. Some responsibilities of this role will include:

• Financial Management includes overseeing the project budget, tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and ensuring that costs are kept within budget. This position will also manage cash flow and prepares financial reports on the project's progress to inform stakeholders about the project's financial performance.

• Contract Management including overseeing the negotiation and management of contracts, ensuring favourable terms for the company and collaboration with legal and finance teams to review and approve contractual agreements.

Relationship Management with the client in relation to commercial matters. Working closely with various departments to coordinate efforts and ensure that project goals are met the Senior Commercial Manager also supports the negotiations with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors along with the Procurement department.

Change Management including exploiting opportunities through change management. They make suggestions on cost-cutting methods and manage risk proactively.

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial success of the project and is an essential member of the project team as a vital role in ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Requirements:

Qualification/ Certification:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Knowledge in Law (Desirable)
  • 10 Years as Contract Manager in a construction environment

Skills Requirement:

  • Planning
  • Informing /Discussing/ Interviewing
  • Decision making
  • Appraising/ Evaluating / Developing
  • Writing / Administration
  • Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
  • Computer literate especially with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong Communication Skills (written, verbal & negotiation)
