About the job:
The Mechanical Engineer shall have experience in Oil & Gas, Mining, SAGD, Well pads, refinery, chemicals projects along with effective communication skills.

The Mechanical Engineer shall have versed experience in different type of packages and rotating equipment in general. Experience in Various pumps (Slurry, API and Non-API), Fan, VRU and steam turbine Packages which includes multi discipline scope will be added value.

The Mechanical Engineer will have direct responsibility of mechanical deliverables, supporting the project mechanical lead, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, client and supplier.

The candidate shall be an integral part of a task force team in an ongoing sustainable project and can be assigned to New prospective projects.
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • The Mechanical Engineer shall be fully responsible for deliverables assigned to him/her.
  • Liaise with and coordinate with the other engineering disciplines and procurement team.
  • Participate in all phases of project, including conceptual, FEED, detail design.
  • Provide construction and Commissioning support as required.
  • Perform job responsibilities under the direction of the Project Mechanical Lead and project engineer(s).
  • Work efficiently and maintain the required technical quality of work produced within the project schedule and budgeted man-hours.
  • Prepare/Review specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, review and approve vendor documents and drawings.
  • Ensure adherence to client and/or company specifications, work instructions, quality processes, governing codes and standards, and good engineering practice.
  • Responsible for reporting the progress status of the equipment being handled to the Project mechanical lead and project engineer(s).
  • Interface with Client's representatives and maintain a good relationship throughout the project
  • Be conversant and knowledgeable with the requirement of current legislation and standards e.g., CSA, API, NFPA, ASME Codes and industry Standards, Federal, and Provincial Regulations.
  • Must be methodical and systematic in his/her approach
  • The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining a positive relationship with all project personnel, engineering team, and other stakeholders.


In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Recognized Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Alberta
  • Minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, SAGD/ well pads and Mining Industries
  • Field experience will be considered an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Report writing, Communication, and Presentation skills.

  • Interface engineering/ Coordination for multidisciplinary issues belongs to Mechanical scope.
  • Work with team across different time zone and co-ordinate for engineering activities
  • General understanding of civil, electrical, I&C and piping design requirement with respect to mechanical equipment interface
  • Willing to travel to site and vendor shop as per project needs and requirement
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skill
  • Strong team player & ability to handle multi-tasks.
  • Ability to meet assignment schedule & deliver quality products.
  • Self-motivated & goal-oriented
  • Ability to work on small to medium size engineering projects and perform tasks independently with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Able to lead a small team as a lead engineer and/or engineer of record.
