About the job:
Kent is looking for a Project Engineering Manager to be based in Houston, TX.

You will manage interfaces between engineering disciplines, third-party engineering contractors, suppliers and the owner’s engineering team. You will develop clear scope definitions, including engineering deliverables, scope of services and timelines.
Basic Job Requirements
  • Coordinate the engineering team to ensure the completeness of Engineering/Design deliverables.
  • Oversee contractor’s engineering performance and ensure projects adhere to construction drawings, specifications, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including contractors.
  • Support and promote project engineering and procurement schedules.
  • Take overall responsibility until the acceptance of the plant, including the development of close-out reports and the transfer of all project documentation.
  • Interact with other disciplines, corporate technical networks, peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed.
  • Inform and report project status realistically, openly, and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Management of Change is followed based on procedure.
  • Provide technical oversight from early Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through detailed design and construction.
  • Support interfaces between engineering disciplines, third-party contractors, suppliers, and the owner’s engineering team.
  • Support engineering schedule planning sessions, ensuring key milestones, sequence and design reviews are incorporated.
  • Verify internal alignment and interaction among engineering discipline leads.
  • Prepare/review scopes of work for third-party contracts.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct required design reviews (P&ID Reviews, Dwg Reviews, 3D Model Reviews), ensuring comments and action items are resolved.
  • Assist contractors and vendors during design and construction to resolve technical queries.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and issue them for review.
  • Ensure lessons learned from past projects are not repeated.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards and specifications.
  • Oversee the review and closure of engineering deliverables, ensuring quality and timely issuance.
  • Engage regularly with project and site team members and partners for progress discussions.
  • Attend project risk review sessions for risk identification and mitigation planning.
  • Support development of Project Management Process (PMP) deliverables needed for gate review/funding of the project.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 15 years of experience with at least ten of those years in the petrochemical industry.
  • Professional registration or license preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Project Engineering role required.
  • Previous experience working in large EPC projects.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and effectively manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and problem-solving capability.
  • Strong computer skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and other related programs.
  • TWIC card or ability to obtain one within the first month of employment.
