About the job:

Kent is looking for a Project Director to ensure the effective progression of a large project from initial contact with client to final account to achieve the company’s objectives in relation to services, profitability, and development with a functional authority over all aspects of the progression of designated projects.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements plans of action to meet client’s needs but keeps company out of risk and in a profitable position.
  • Takes responsibility of any special engineering, design, location, or scale factors affecting the project, by monitoring projects and solving problems proactively.
  • Scrutinizes contract documents and identifies and interprets the implications of any special features. Ensuring the content of the contract is fully understood and eliminate any areas of risk by setting up procedures to do so.
  • Sets up contractual documents for approval in accordance with procedures and authority of responsibility. Producing contractual documents for any variations, subcontractors, and prospects.
  • Establishes and controls budgets to meet maximum profitability.
  • Compiles labour norms and approves final estimates. Compiling norms in the collection and validation of costs for projects at tender stage within constraints of project operations.
  • Requisitions of all site establishment and services and ensure that services are utilized and maintained.
  • Controls total services on site, such as quantity surveying (QS), construction, estimating and engineering.
  • Ensures that all information is available to planners and detailed plan is drawn up. Sets up procedures to ensure information is channelled to planning department and monitor such procedures and reports.
  • Holds on-site meetings to identify and account for any deviations and determines what corrective action is needed.
  • Ensures that a system for the recording and reporting of work is compiled and material and equipment movements are adhered to.
  • Ensures there are adequate manpower levels on site at all times.
  • Designs the formulation of all payments, particularly regarding the size, make and presentation of special evaluations.
  • Ensures that all contract close-out arrangements are honoured.
  • Reports on progress in detail and at intervals determined by management.
  • Liaises with and ensures co-ordination with other divisions and departments.
  • Keeps abreast of technical and commercial developments in contracting and related fields.
  • Logs time and costs incurred in performance of his duties against the relevant specific projects.
  • Responsible for safe operations of all staff on project(s).
  • Formulates and controls procedures to always ensure cash awareness and a positive approach on projects.
  • Monitors and controls subcontractors, consultants and vendors by holding updated meetings regularly and monitoring progress and consult on any changes.
  • Ensures that subcontractors to be used by the project team are properly vetted and quality assurance (QA) procedures are adhered to by subcontractors.
  • Ensures that schedules and targets are met and that on-site estimating is carried out correctly.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation/Control Systems or Electrical Engineering from an accredited University preferred not but not mandatory.
  • A minimum 15 years of experience in construction, engineering, and project management within the oil & gas industry.
  • Experience working with environmental regulations as they pertain to the oil & gas industry.
  • Proven track record of successful projects.

Communication:

  • Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as required to function effectively within a project team and to communicate with project management, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of major project lifecycle execution.
