About the job:
Kent is looking for an experienced and highly motivated EPC Planner/Project Controls Manager to be based in Baytown, TX.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and controlling engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. This position requires a deep understanding of Project Controls, Scheduling, and Cost Management, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Scheduling:
    • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including critical path analysis, milestone tracking, and resource allocation.
    • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project timelines and deliverables.
    • Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Cost Management:
    • Prepare and manage project budgets, including cost estimates, forecasts, and variance analysis.
    • Track project expenditures and manage cost control measures to ensure adherence to financial objectives.
    • Analyze and report on project financial performance, identifying trends and potential risks.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, including developing risk mitigation plans and contingency strategies.
    • Conduct regular risk reviews and updates, communicating findings to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Develop and implement project control systems, tools, and processes to monitor project performance.
    • Generate regular project status reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs), progress updates, and financial summaries.
    • Present project status, risks, and issues to senior management and clients, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Facilitate communication and coordination between project teams, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
    • Lead project meetings, including progress reviews, risk assessments, and change management discussions.
    • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance project controls processes and systems.
    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices, integrating new methodologies and technologies as appropriate.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in EPC Project Controls, Planning, and Scheduling within the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and other relevant tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present information to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, and risks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Communication:
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.
