Kent is looking for a Senior Project Controls Manager, based in Houston, TX.
We seek a Senior Project Controls Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team on a large-scale industrial project, emphasizing Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) scope. This site-based role oversees cost management, planning/scheduling, EVM, progress reporting, and workforce planning.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Oversight:
• Manage cost engineers, schedulers, EVM specialists, and planners.
• Align the team with project goals and driving performance reviews and development.
Cost Control & EVM:
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
• Lead monthly EVM reviews, variance analysis, and trend forecasting.
Planning & Scheduling:
• Direct creation and maintenance of integrated schedules (Primavera P6).
• Coordinate with construction and commissioning for logical sequencing and resource loading.
Reporting:
• Deliver executive-level dashboards and KPIs.
• Monitor E&I progress and productivity metrics.
Workface Planning:
• Supervise IWP development and field execution alignment.
• Validate percent complete and material readiness via field data.
Governance & Interfaces:
• Coordinate with project managers, engineering, procurement, and finance.
• Ensure controls compliance and lead schedule/cost performance audits.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in project controls, with at least 5 years in a senior or managerial role.
• Extensive experience managing E&I project scopes within complex EPC or industrial construction projects.
• Strong command of earned value principles, critical path analysis, and change management.
• Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and implementing project controls best practices.
• Proficient in Primavera P6, EVM systems, and performance analysis tools.
Communication:
• Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills, in addition to organizational and interpersonal skills.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
• Field/site experience in large capital projects, particularly in oil & gas, chemicals, power, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Proven ability to operate effectively in high-pressure environments with competing deadlines.
• Strategic thinker with a detail-oriented, analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with digital workface planning tools and construction management platforms.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
