About the job:
Kent is recruiting a Process Engineer (Low Carbon) to support up and coming front-end and owners engineering projects. With a focus on expanding our low carbon capabilities, including green / blue hydrogen, green ammonia, carbon capture storage & utilization, direct air capture, power to X and waste to fuel’s projects.
Your responsibilities:
- Ensure all engineering and design work performed meets quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Ensure all design work is safe and carried out in a safe manner.
- Develop technology / pathway technical evaluation criteria and be able to frame different technology options and to perform conceptual evaluation of the options.
- Process Design Engineering including performing process simulations, design calculations, Process Optimization, sizing & selection of equipment, depressurization calculations and flare network studies etc. for Tenders (as required) and for awarded Projects.
- Preparation and review of various engineering deliverables (Drawings & Documents) such as Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, Process Datasheets, Equipment Specifications, Heat and Mass balance, Cause & Effect Diagrams, control philosophies, shutdown philosophies, HAZOP Studies & reports, Operation & maintenance manuals etc.
- Review of Clients and supplier tender documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of FEED design & calculations.
- To develop input to cost models including equipment sizing, utility requirements, understanding of developing Class 4 and 5 OPEX and CAPEX models.
- Ensure direct, effective and timely communications of project requirements, request for actions, responses to requests, routine reporting and sharing important information to Lead Engineer and all supervised staff.
- Be fully aware of and implement, where appropriate, the latest International and National Standards, Codes of Practice, software and requirements of ‘good engineering practice’ for all work performed.
- Ensure adherence to Contract, Scope of Work and Design Basis Memorandum; identify variations in a timely manner, whether initiated by Client or internally. Obtain the Project Manager’s approval of direction and any impact upon the project budget or schedule, prior to implementation.
- Participate in meetings with the Study Manager, Client and third parties, involving supervised staff as required, to communicate and clarify interfaces, requests, decisions, approvals, proposals, status, responses, etc.
- Act professionally and with due diligence at all times to fully safeguard the interests of the Company in all business activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the management.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Qualification/ Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in (Chemical Engineering)
- Between (up to 10) years
Skills Requirement:
- Effective communication skills. Proficient in presenting complex information to project stakeholders, creating technical reports, and actively listening to peers and team members.
- Oil and Gas Processing. Strong foundation in oil and gas processing fundamentals.
- Process Design Expertise. Highly advantageous if experienced in process design for the following areas:
- Green and Blue Hydrogen Production
- Ammonia, Methanol, and Urea Synthesis
- Sustainable Aviation Fuels
- Power to Liquids and Waste to X
- Carbon Capture Technologies
- Licensor and technology evaluation
- Owners Engineer or Project Management Consultancy role
- Transition Skills. Demonstrated ability to transfer skills from conventional energy projects to new energy and low-carbon initiatives.
- Versatile Work Environments. Comfortable working in both office and field-based environments, adapting to diverse project demands.
- Software Proficiency. Proficient in utilizing relevant software tools, with expertise in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS / Aspen Plus and/or ProMax.
- Other software skills such as QUE$TOR and OLGA would be beneficial differentiator.
- Front End loading. Advantageous working in Appraise and Concept Selection Phases of projects and familiar with FEL 1 / 2 / 3 requirements.
Communication:
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical attributes
- Able to effectively communicate technical issues to peers and line manager (written and verbal).
