About the job:
Kent is looking for an Principal Inspection Engineer - Asset Integrity to be based in Aberdeen. You will be part of a growing multi-discipline Asset Integrity team supporting a wide range of clients both in the North Sea region and globally. The team will provide specialist support and input into bidding/tendering for work from new and existing clients as well as leading discipline specific scopes in your relevant area of expertise. Additionally, the team will provide support to clients with their day-to-day integrity issues, finding innovative and robust solutions to allow for safe continued operation.
Skills & Responsibilities:
Working as part of an integrated, Multi-discipline Asset Integrity Team, you will be responsible for development, review and implementation across a range of documents and processes delivering against the full integrity cycle, including:
• Develop and provide detailed inspection workpacks aligned with industry codes, standards and best practices.
• Interprets and assesses inspection results.
• Performs GVI, CVI inspections and draws up sketches when required.
• Attend and lead site visits (onshore & offshore) on an ad-hoc basis as required.
• Provide expert advice and input in relation to inspection & NDT methodologies and recommended approaches.
• Leading and originating discipline focused tasks as project and business requires.
• Collaborate with NDT technicians and site inspection teams.
• Liaise with other technical colleagues and client representatives as required.
• Delivering against relevant internal and external client deadlines to a high standard of accuracy and quality.
• Supporting bids by providing input into relevant technical areas.
• Providing front line support to client requests and issues.
• Supporting training and development of junior staff in relevant discipline area.
• Ability to perform on multiple projects at the time.
• Ensure that inspections align with industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, NACE) and adhere to safety regulations.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (HND with the right skills set knowledge may be accepted).
• NDT Level II Certified (Non-Destructive Testing) or demonstrable knowledge and experience with the NDT techniques.
• API 510 Certified or demonstrable knowledge and experience in Pressure Vessel Inspection.
• API 570 Certified or demonstrable knowledge and experience in Pipeline Inspection.
• API 653 Certified or demonstrable knowledge and experience in Storage Tank Inspection.
• AMPP CIP 1 (Basic Coating Inspector) or demonstrable knowledge and experience.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and best practices to ensure efficient and safe operation of equipment.
• Knowledge of inspection methods and standards (e.g., API, ASME, NACE).
• Familiarity and alignment with ISO17020.
• Proficiency with inspection techniques, requirements and best practices for structures, pipelines and pressure systems (piping and equipment).
• Valid Offshore BOSIET, MIST and Medical.
• Advanced understanding of damage mechanisms and mitigation techniques.
Communication:
• Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
