About the job:

Kent is looking for an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) Planner to be based in Baytown, TX and support regional project site(s).

The Planner is responsible for examining plans for a project and developing a workable schedule, as well as making recommendations on existing schedules to increase productivity, decrease cost, and balance the workload.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for construction input during early development all the way to the first day of field execution.
  • Early project job walks to determine scope, duration, and estimates for each project.
  • Develop initial overall scope summary and provide project execution plan descriptions for each project
  • Work with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, & Construction) schedulers and project managers to develop early P6 primavera schedules.
  • Develop initial estimates and work with EPC Estimators to generate quality construction estimates for each project
  • Provide construction input to engineering regarding field execution activities for each project
  • Assist and lead as needed Path of Construction meetings for each project
  • Assist and lead as needed Constructability Reviews for each project
  • Provide input on possible gMOC strategies for each project
  • Sit in on EPC touchpoint meetings and provide early project development updates to PM’s (Project Managers) for each project
  • Work with EPC Procurement to identify vendors/suppliers that will be needed for each project so that Procurement can get potential vendors onboard with Kent for issuance of PO’s.
  • Identify specialty contractors that will be needed to execute the work for each project. (Hot Tap Vendors, Exchanger Bundle extractor and Exchanger vendors, Auger Cast pile vendors, etc.)
  • Identify and develop crane and lifting plans for projects with heavy lifts which may need a crane vendor onsite and/or a crane pad to be built for a crawler crane triple 7 or larger ring crane with a luffing jib. Crane vendor will provide lift plan.
  • Provide construction input in developing the sequence of engineering packages that will be needed in the field in a specific order. (Civil undergrounds first, Hot Tap packages in parallel, M-1 next, I/E next, etc. Sequence the packages coming out of engineering.
  • Provide construction input to procurement to sequence how fabrication will be released to the field in sequential order.
  • Identify specialty procurement items that may be Long Lead Equipment which Procurement will need to order first.
  • Work with contractors executing work scope to verify labor hours and activity durations and develop the execution plan for the project.
  • Review schedule and scope with the project manager and project execution team to identify efficiencies and assist PM in presenting to the client/s.
  • Post Project completion analysis of cost and budget with comparison of estimate given vs actual cost after execution
  • Assist Site Manager with various duties.
  • Additional HOC tasks may apply and may be modified per the project needs.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Diploma/College Degree or 5 years’ relevant field experience project or T/A execution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s, Isometrics, Loop Sheets, and Primavera P6 schedules
  • Self-Starter and highly motivated
  • Problem solver – bring a solution to the problem you present

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zync 360, Open Space, etc).
  • Effective time management, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in multiple groups in a team-oriented environment and independently when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Traveling is required as well as between various job sites.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to set the project up for successful completion.
  • Ability to work for extended durations, holidays, and weekends when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and embrace charter values.
  • Foster good relationships and team working ethic with sub-contract teams to promote safe working practices and efficiency.
  • Experience of working in an integrated team from diverse locations required.
  • Some lifting; max 50lbs.
