Transferring European design experience to the developing US market

Kent was contracted under the long term relationship with the Iberdrola group to complete the Concept Design for the Park City Wind Offshore Electrical Substation (ESP) in the USA. Avangrid, part of the Iberdrola group, are developing the 800MW site off the coast of Massachusetts. Kent brought design experience from prior OSP projects executed for Iberdrola and developed a topside and jacket concept design in line with the company requirements. The multidiscipline project utilised Kent’s OSP Design Toolkit and extensive experience to generate an agreed layout within the project timeline and installation limitations. Using geotechnical and general project experience from the area Kent was able to complete soil interpretation and take benefit in improving the overall design. Concept Design reports and drawings supported Avangrid in progressing the project and engaging with their wider supply chain as part of their EPC RFQ process.
