Kent is looking for a Mechanical Designer

To prepare or modify designs for mechanical static equipment projects. Designs include drawings, design details, specifications, bills of quantity and design calculations using industry recognized computational software.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with and coordinate with the other engineering disciplines and Lead Mechanical Engineer
  • Participate in all phases of project, including conceptual, FEED, detail design
  • Provide field verification of equipment and mechanical components to record data and information.
  • Perform job responsibilities under the direction of the Project Mechanical Lead and project engineer(s)
  • Work efficiently and maintain the required technical quality of work produced within the project schedule and budgeted man-hours
  • Prepare specifications, data sheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, review and approve vendor documents and drawings
  • Ensure adherence to client and/or company specifications, work instructions, quality processes, governing codes and standards, and good engineering practice
  • Responsible for reporting the progress status of the equipment being handled to the Project mechanical lead and project engineer(s)
  • Interface with Client's representatives and maintain a good relationship throughout the project
  • Be conversant and knowledgeable with the requirement of current legislation and standards e.g., API, CSA, API, NFPA, ASME Codes and industry Standards, Federal, and Provincial Regulations
  • Must be methodical and systematic in her/his approach
  • The Candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining a positive relationship with all project personnel, engineering team, and other stakeholders

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Technologist or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • Field experience will be considered an asset
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) in addition knowledge of Compress, PV Elite and NozzlePRO would be an asset
  • Report writing, Communication, and Presentation skills

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • The Candidate shall have experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemical projects along with effective communication skills
  • The Candidate shall have versed experience in different type of packages and static equipment in general
  • Experience in vessels, tanks, towers (API/ASME) which includes multi discipline scope will be added value
  • The Candidate will have direct responsibility of mechanical deliverables, supporting the project mechanical lead, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, client and suppliers
  • The candidate shall be an integral part of a task force team in an ongoing sustainable, reliability and performance enhancement projects
