About the job:


Kent is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer with demonstrated experience in the design and selection of pressure vessels, to be based in the West Houston, TX office.

You will interact with other disciplines and groups, corporate technical networks and peers, and vendors/suppliers as needed to successfully implement and startup new equipment installations and revamps.




Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review static mechanical equipment engineering specifications.
  • Prepare and/or review datasheets for static mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare material requisitions for quote (MRQ), technical bid evaluations (TBE), material requisitions for purchase (MRP) and review vendor’s documentation for mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare hand and/or computer aided mechanical calculations as required.
  • Support process engineers with the selection of materials of construction for static equipment.
  • Provide mechanical equipment list for equipment in assigned responsibility area.
  • Provide assistance for the resolution of engineering and design problems.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Your Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience:



Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Minimum 15 years relevant experience in the Oil & Gas industry required.
  • Must be able to work independently and be the voice of technical authority in assigned responsibility area.
  • Knowledge of static equipment fabrication, inspection and testing.
  • Experience in the application and specification of static mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, reactors, columns and towers.
  • Experience with COMPRESS and/or INSPECT and/or PV-Elite.
  • Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to ASME BPVC, API standards, PIP standards, ASME B31.3 and B31.1 and commonly used mechanical engineering software.
  • Working knowledge of welding procedure specifications a plus.
  • Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects a plus. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.



Communication:
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal/rapport building skills necessary to work effectively as a team member, and to plan/coordinate processes for results.
