About the job:
Kent is looking for a site-based Lead HSSE Specialist to support its team on a multi-year project based in multiple locations (starting in North Slope, Alaska).
You will actively listen and engage with our people, partners, and industry peers on Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (QHSSE) matters to implement effective QHSSE initiatives.
Skills and Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities: - Lead the implementation of KMS quality management system requirements for the organization to help to improve its overall performance and provide a sound basis for sustainable development initiatives.
- Manage Lead Auditor certification.
- Responsible for compliance reporting, including monthly internal quality compliance reporting and periodic external quality compliance reporting.
- Provide continual improvement implementation and tracking.
- Oversee risk management.
- Perform the role of quality manager on large scale projects.
- Facilitate the organization’s ability to provide a safe and healthy workplace, to prevent work-related injury and ill health, and to continually improve health and safety performance.
- HSE Committee Chair.
- Develop and communicate HSE orientation materials.
- Perform the role of emergency controller in the event of an emergency.
- Manage monthly health and safety inspections.
- Maintain HSE noticeboards.
- Coordinate weekly toolbox talks.
- Compliance reporting, including monthly internal health and safety compliance reporting, periodic external compliance reporting, and OSHA record keeping.
- Prepare and maintain a legal compliance register.
- Support the organization in a systematic approach to environmental management and provide leadership with the information to build long term sustainable development.
- Facilitate risk management with the aim of protecting the environment by preventing or mitigating adverse environmental impacts.
- Mitigate the potential adverse effect of environmental conditions on the organization.
- Assist the organization in fulfilment of compliance obligations.
- Contribute to the enhancement of environmental performance.
- Influence the way the organization’s products and services are designed by using a life cycle perspective that can prevent environmental impacts from being unintentionally shifted elsewhere within the life cycle.
- Promote financial and operational benefits that can result from implementing environmentally sound alternatives that strengthen the organization’s market position.
- Communicate environmental information to relevant interested parties.
- Prepare and maintain an environmental aspect and impacts register.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: | |
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: - Formal HSSE Certification or applicable degree.
- Lead Auditor certification a plus.
- 7+ years’ experience in HSSE.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 International Standards.
- Conversant with applicable industry standards and specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
