About the job:
Kent is looking for a Lead HSSE Advisor to be based in Baytown, TX.
Reporting to the HSSE Manager, this position includes actively listening and engaging with our people, partners, clients, and industry peers on Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) matters.
This role is intended to facilitate the organization’s ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, enhance customer satisfaction, address risks and opportunities, and demonstrate conformity to management system requirements.
HSSE support of the business can be broken down into the following functions:
- Health and Safety management
- Environmental management
- Security management
- Resource management
Skills and Responsibilities: |

Responsibilities:
- HSE Committee Chair.
- Develop and communicate HSE orientation materials.
- Perform the role of backup emergency controller to the HSSE Manager in the event of an emergency.
- Manage monthly health and safety inspections.
- Maintain HSE noticeboards online and in office.
- Coordinate weekly toolbox talks.
- Compliance reporting, including monthly internal health and safety compliance reporting, periodic external compliance reporting, and OSHA record keeping.
- Prepare and maintain a legal compliance register.
- Support Project Management with implementation of the management system and maintaining ISO certification.
- Assist with developing and delivering applicable HSSE training to the project.
- Conduct incident investigations and provide case management support to the HSSE Manager.
- Develop and lead monthly safety meetings.
- Analyse trends in HSSE performance, advising areas or concerns and potential improvement areas.
- Facilitate risk management with the aim of protecting the environment by preventing or mitigating adverse environmental impacts.
- Mitigate the potential adverse effects of environmental conditions on the organization.
- Assist the organization in the fulfilment of compliance obligations.
- Contribute to the enhancement of environmental performance.
- Influence the way the organization’s products and services are designed by using a life cycle perspective that can prevent environmental impacts from being unintentionally shifted elsewhere within the life cycle.
- Promote financial and operational benefits that can result from implementing environmentally sound alternatives that strengthen the organization’s market position.
- Communicate environmental information to relevant interested parties.
- Prepare and maintain an environmental aspects and impacts register.
- Order personal protective equipment.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: |

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
- Formal HSSE Certification or applicable Degree.
- 3+ years’ experience in HSSE.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 International Standards.
- Auditor experience.
- Conversant with applicable industry standards and specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (outlook, excel, PPT, word, etc.)
