Role scope

To be primary responsible for project level coordination of all civil/structural engineering activities as the discipline lead engineer, ensuring that all engineering work is completed on schedule, on budget and in accordance with client and company established work procedures and quality.


Details / responsibilities

  • Work on medium or large size engineering projects including EPC projects in Oil & Gas industry
  • Lead a team of civil and structural engineers and designers on major projects as the discipline lead engineer
  • Define and review scope of work, prepare engineering estimates at both proposal and design level, schedule and monitor progress for civil/structural portion of work in a project
  • Prepare, review and approve design calculations as required to meet project requirements
  • Conduct field investigations as needed by projects and prepare detailed field reports
  • Coordinate with other discipline leads to ensure effective quality product
  • Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards
  • Develop and recommend improvements in engineering and design standards and guides to lower cost and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance
  • Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used
  • Resolve project issues and problems
  • Provide technical support to construction and facilitate the work of project team members
  • Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
  • Able to work on multiple tasks concurrently
  • Provide input to the Department Manager during the preparation of the performance evaluation of the civil/structural engineers and designers assigned to his/her project
  • Perform other project-related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • BSCE degree, MSCE preferred, minimum 12-20 years of hands on civil/structural experience required in petrochemical, midstream or other heavy industries.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Lead Role in medium or large size projects is required.
  • P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) is required or able to obtain by comity within six months after joining Kent.
  • Established NCEES record is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.
  • In depth knowledge of civil/structural computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology.
  • Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes
  • Experience working with other disciplines understanding their interface requirements.
  • Experience with design and/or construction of plants desirable.
  • In depth knowledge of civil/structural standards, design codes and practices.
  • Midstream experience is preferred.
  • MS Office (Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word, working knowledge in Access)
  • Familiar with PIP Standards.
  • Working knowledge of civil/structural layout and design complying with industry standards.
  • Familiar with latest of IBC, ACI, AISC, API, and ASCE codes
  • MS Office (Excel and Word) and product proficiency required.
  • Proficiency with Staad Pro, Staad Foundation, Mat 3D, Foundation 3D, RISA 3D.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (Bentley) or MicroStation.
  • Full fluency in English is required.
  • Second language desired but not required.
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
