Role scope
To play a crucial role in managing and controlling financial aspects of projects. To oversee and analyse costs associated with exploration, drilling, production and other activities in the oil and gas sector.
Details / responsibilities
- Assists in developing and implementing requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analysing and reporting
- Independently provides financial reporting and trending for the Director – Operations
- Interpretation and analysis of impact of Contractor Change Orders on project budget
- Prepare and manage the staffing plans (cost and job hours)
- Prepare and coordinate cost reports
- Collects and classifies cost engineering data
- Performs data analysis and development
- Performs any other duties as directed by the Director – Operations
- Develop and manage project budgets
- Provide accurate cost forecasts based on project progress and changes
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the entire project life cycle
- Analyse cost variances and identify reasons for deviations from budgets
- Prepare financial reports for management, highlighting key cost elements and trends
- Provide regular updates on project financial performance
- Identify potential risks that may affect project costs
- Develop strategies to mitigate cost-related risks
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards
- Work with auditors during financial audit
Qualifications
- A relevant educational qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Additionally, professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) may be beneficial
- Experience in cost control within the oil and gas industry is essential
- Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and accounting
- In-depth knowledge of the oil and gas industry, including its operations and cost structures
- Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret complex financial information
- Effective communication skills to interact with project teams, management, and stakeholders
- Ability to identify and manage financial risks associated with projects
- Familiarity with cost control software and tools
- Ability to negotiate contracts and influence cost-saving decisions
- Capability to identify and resolve cost-related issues proactively
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements
