About the job:

Kent is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support local/regional projects with demonstrated engineering experience.

The individual shall specify, research, engineer, analyse, evaluate, and document mechanical equipment to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.

The candidate must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review mechanical equipment engineering specifications.
  • Prepare and/or review datasheets for mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare material requisitions for quote (MRQ), technical bid evaluations (TBE), material requisitions for purchase (MRP) and review vendor’s documentation for mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare hand and/or computer aided mechanical calculations as required.
  • Support process engineers with the selection of materials of construction for piping and equipment.
  • Prepare/review piping specifications.
  • Provide mechanical input to line list, specialty items list and equipment list.
  • Provide assistance for the resolution of engineering and design problems.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to ASME BPVC, API standards, PIP standards, ASME B31.3 and B31.8 and commonly used mechanical engineering software.
  • Experience with other disciplines and/or construction of oil and gas plant equipment desirable.
  • Working knowledge of equipment inspection and testing desirable.
  • Working knowledge of vessels, pipe, static equipment desirable.
  • Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis, CAESAR II or other, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical material handling equipment (optical sorting, extruders, silos, conveyors, shakers, hoppers, grinders, etc) a plus.
  • Basic oil and gas upstream, midstream and downstream knowledge required.

Skills Requirement:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Working knowledge of the software applicable to their expertise (e.g. Compress, Caesar II, NozzlePro, HTRI, etc.) desirable.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design software a plus.

Communication:

  • Full fluency in English is required.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering concepts and ability to apply knowledge to complex problems.
  • Computer skills and application of software programs.
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
  • Ability to develop effective planning, project, and organizational skills.
