About the job:
Kent is looking for a Junior Cost Controller to support our client’s projects in Channelview, Bayport and La Porte, TX.
You will provide general assistance to the members of the project controls group in supporting the cost management of capital projects.

Typical capital portfolio includes concurrent support of multiple projects at multiple sites for individual projects (most less than $10MM).

Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Active participation in the overall cost control process through the life cycle of the project.
  • Creates/modifies purchase requisitions based on appropriate Procurement Strategy and alignment with TIC (Total Installed Cost) Estimate accounts, WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) coding, and appropriate tax jurisdiction.
  • Monitor/maintain WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) statuses for projects and ensure timely closure as projects transition from phase to phase.
  • Reconcile vendor cost reports with charges actualized in SAP (System Applications & Products Program). Work to resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitors and resolves blocked and parked invoices. Works directly with contractors/vendors and LYB Accounts Payable to resolve invoice issues.
  • Supports project closure by identifying/resolving GR/IR (goods received/invoice received) imbalances, closing out project purchase orders. Monitors quantity and timeliness of project closure for the site.
  • Monitor labor recovery entries to ensure time entries are coded in accordance with the guidelines.
  • Provides assistance to project teams as needed.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Some College coursework/education required.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge in SAP, Microsoft Office Products with advanced knowledge in Excel.
  • Knowledge in Accounting principles.


Communication:
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.

Behavior/ Core Competencies:
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities within strict timelines.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the aptitude to work cross functionally.
