Jetty Boil-Off Gas (JBOG) Recovery Project, which is part of the Common Facilities Projects at Ras Laffan Industrial city, enables boil-off gas to be collected from LNG ships and compressed at a central facility. The compressed gas is then be sent to the LNG producers to be consumed as fuel or converted back into LNG. During its first year of operation the project recovered 0.5 Mta of LNG.

Kent’s scope included the laying of two 132kV HV underground cable circuits from Kahramaa RL2 Substation to Central Compressor Area including all the associated works such as trenching, backfilling, new joint bay boxes, truss bridges, splicing, termination and testing. The electrical scope included HV, MV and LV switchgear, HV power transformers, MV and LV power distribution, primary and secondary cable support systems, power and control cabling,
grounding, cathodic protection and lightning protection, plant lighting, plant utility power and AC UPS systems.

The instrumentation scope included the DCS installation, control and instrument cabling for around 1,000 I/O, field junction boxes, fire and gas detection, PA and communication systems, field instruments, process and pneumatic hook-ups, instrument calibration and loop checking. The telecommunications scope included the laying of new fibre optic cable in FO corridor connecting all the control and technical rooms associated with the central compressor area, LNG loading berths 1-6, Lot N, Lot H and QG-1 Tank Farm.

The scope also included architectural and HVAC works associated with 132kV substation, 33kV substation and Instrument Technical Room (ITR–65) in the central compressor area. Civil works such as cable trenches and duct banks in central compressor area. Support and assistance to the company for start-up, performance, acceptance testing and operational testing.
