About the Role:

Kent is seeking an HSSE Officer to join our Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) team, supporting onshore operations from our Trinidad office, with occasional visits to client sites or projects—both onshore and offshore—as required. This role ensures the critical coordination of safety programs, documentation, training, and reporting, contributing to safe and efficient field execution. The HSE Support Officer will work closely with field teams, supervisors, and corporate HSE leadership to maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with moderate HSE experience who is eager to grow and develop their skills in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
• Promote a proactive HSSE culture by supporting safety leadership, training, and clear communication across onshore and offshore teams
• Coordinate and maintain HSE training, onboarding, documentation, and communication platforms in compliance with internal and client standards
• Track and manage hazards, incidents, near misses, and follow-up actions; assist in investigations, reporting, and trend analysis
• Support JHAs, risk assessments, PPE compliance, and procedure reviews to ensure safe execution of scopes of work
• Participate in inspections, audits, and emergency preparedness activities including drills and response training
• Assist with environmental monitoring, waste management, and reporting; ensure adherence to regulatory and sustainability requirements
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders—internally and externally—to reinforce HSSE expectations and strengthen safety performance

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:
• NEBOSH International General Certificate, NVQ/NFQ Level 3, IOSH, OSHA 30, or equivalent
• 2–3 years of HSE experience, preferably within construction or energy project environments
• Practical knowledge of field-level risk management, hazard identification, and control methods
• Familiarity with Trinidad’s OSH Act (2004) and local HSE compliance expectations
• Understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems
• Exposure to RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and incident investigation practices
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); HSE dashboard/reporting tools is an asset
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and report safety data with accuracy and clarity
• Comfortable addressing HSSE concerns with construction teams, subcontractors, and site management
• Capable of spotting unsafe work conditions or behaviors and responding appropriately
• Direct collaboration with Site Construction Managers, HSE Supervisors, QA/QC, and subcontractors
• Experience supporting field implementation of HSSE requirements and conducting safety inspections
• Willingness to learn and contribute to a team-based, safety-first environment

Communication:

Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

• Demonstrated initiative in promoting safety and compliance across multidisciplinary teams
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build productive relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and client representatives—both onshore and offshore
• High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail when handling safety-related documentation
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and support continuous improvement in HSSE programs
• Positive, collaborative approach with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic setting

HSSEQ:
