About the job:

Kent is looking for a Graduate Metallurgy and Corrosion Engineer to be based in Woking.

As part of a leading engineering and projects business which operates in the Oil & Gas, and Energy Transition sectors you will embark on a journey towards becoming a Chartered Engineer within your respective discipline. You will be supporting client projects across the sectors and increasingly gain more responsibility and influence as you develop and progress as a Professionally Qualified Engineer.

Foremost amongst your attributes will be your ability to support a range of projects, your passion to develop your own technical expertise (as well as your career), and to become a great communicator, in order to develop and build relationships with clients and colleagues within the wider Kent business.

Hybrid Working

We follow a hybrid working model that combines office and remote work, with a requirement to be in the Woking office four days a week. This approach supports the development of a strong and effective team dynamic within Engineering.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Functioning as part of a team of engineers and will mainly provide assistance to other engineers or be responsible under close supervision.  
  • Complete Kent Graduate Development Programme. 
  • Corporate reporting line is to respective Group Manager.

  • Undertakes specific tasks / area of work as defined by the lead / principal / senior engineer. 
  • Executes allocated tasks within the requirements of the project execution plan and Technical Document Register. 
  • Works to the requirements of the Design Manual 
  • Executes work in compliance with client specification, Kent’s ISO accredited Quality Management System, and project specific procedures, guides and standards. 
  • Performs related duties as and when instructed by lead / principal / senior engineer or group manager. 
  • Providing input to preparation of deliverables by other engineers. 
  • Providing input and support to decision making by other engineers. 

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: 

  • Master's degree in Materials Science / Metallurgy / Corrosion Engineering. If in doubt, the degree should be accredited by one of the professional engineering institutions (ICorr or IOM3).
  • Awareness applicable international and industry specifications, standards and codes. 
  • Knowledge of Safety and Quality Procedures and best practice.

Communication:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with others in the team as well as clients. 
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

  • High level of MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams. 
  • Flexible, enthusiastic and methodical in your approach to project work. 
  • Self-motivated & comfortable taking responsibility across a range of tasks. 
  • A desire to work collaboratively with a curious approach, challenging yourself to find new solutions. 
  • Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team. 
  • Analytical and problem solving mindset.

  • Motivation to achieve professional accreditation (where applicable). 
  • Comfortable to embrace agile ways of working and learning new technologies.  
  • We are looking for candidates who are due to graduate in 2026 or have graduated in the last 2 years.
