About the job:
Kent is looking for a GIS Administrator to support our client in Clear Lake, TX.
You will serve as the geospatial data authority within our client’s regulated gas and liquid pipeline operations. This role integrates technical expertise with cross-functional collaboration, ensuring data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with proven experience in ArcGIS Pro using the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM), SQL Server, and Google Earth Pro, including KML/KMZ file management.
Basic Job Requirements |
- Serve as subject matter expert for geospatial data.
- Administer and maintain the enterprise GIS platform using ArcGIS Pro and UPDM for pipeline asset management.
- Create and implement geospatial solutions to improve workflows, processes, and best practices across survey data and spatial analysis.
- Define, implement, and enforce policies, standards, naming conventions, and industry-compliant documentation related to survey data.
- Coordinate with survey companies and monitor timelines and budgets to ensure timely and accurate delivery of geospatial data.
- Facilitate the transfer of survey data to the geodatabase for integration into the enterprise ArcGIS Pro platform.
- Check, upload, and maintain all ROW data ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to locate, analyze, and visualize existing client and project data.
- Identify and resolve geospatial data inconsistencies; troubleshoot map connection issues and ensure continuity when migrating datasets.
- Apply datum transformations and resolve coordinate reference issues in both current and historical datasets.
- Create and publish map products (e.g., As-Builts, Pipelines, ROW easements)
- Communicate operational updates and project milestones clearly and consistently to stakeholders across the organization.

- 3+ years of GIS administration experience, preferably in the pipeline or energy sector.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro with strong experience using the UPDM schema.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server and experience with spatial query development.
- Proficiency in Google Earth Pro, including KML/KMZ file creation, management, and visualization.
- Familiarity with U.S. pipeline regulations (e.g., PHMSA, 49 CFR Parts 192/195) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS, or ArcGIS Online.
- Scripting capabilities in SQL.
- Knowledge of pipeline alignment sheets, survey data workflows, and asset integrity operations.
- Ability to interpret engineering documents, survey files, and as-built records.
