About the job:
Kent is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in managing the financial operations of our UK businesses. The successful candidate will report directly to the Divisional Finance Director and will be responsible for a range of financial management tasks. As well as gaining insight and exposure to the wider business and to project delivery the successful candidate will also have opportunities to other group initiatives such as M&A and system developments.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a finance team in the UK to support our rapidly growing business.
- Oversee monthly accounting, reconciliation and compliance processes
- Manage financial reporting to Group and ensuring proactive and efficient responses to information and analysis requests through the quarterly audit process.
- Responsibility for preparation of annual statutory accounts for four UK entities and one Irish entity, including liaising with auditors ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, monitoring financial performance, compliance, and supporting business operations providing insights for decision making.
- Oversee monthly accounting, reconciliation and compliance processes ensuring robustness of internal controls aligned to group standards
- Coordinate with shared service teams on payables, billing and debt collection.
- Collaborate with Group Functions and external advisors on tax, treasury, payroll, commercial, company secretarial, and accounting matters.
- Undertake ad hoc projects and provide support to the Divisional Finance Director.
- Lead improvement initiatives within UK finance team, working collaboratively with the business and projects functions.
- Participate in Group financial improvement initiatives, including the design and implementation of enhancements to ERP systems.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent).
- In-depth knowledge of business finance processes and accounting standards.
- Willingness to travel, primarily within the UK.
Communication:
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
Behaviour/ Core Competencies:
- Excellent technical accounting skills and knowledge.
- Commercial acumen and business understanding coupled with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Broad understanding of tax and compliance matters.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with staff and management at all levels.
- Ability to analyse financial data and identify trends and provide insights, identifying and resolving accounting issues
- Proactive and inquisitive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
