About the Role
Kent is seeking experienced Electrical Designers to join our team in Deer Park, TX. These roles offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative project team. We’re looking for someone with a strong grasp of industrial power distribution systems and hands-on experience in substation design.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute electrical design deliverables, ensuring drawings and documentation meet project deadlines and standards.
- Develop single-line diagrams, motor schematics, and wiring drawings.
- Produce electrical layouts including cable tray, lighting, grounding, area classification, aboveground/underground power, and electrical room layouts.
- Perform design calculations—lighting, cable sizing, and tray fill.
- Prepare BOMs/MTOs, cable schedules, and panel schedules.
- Review and check drawings for code compliance, constructability, and project alignment.
- Support procurement for bulk electrical materials.
- Develop and review heat tracing deliverables (EHT layouts, ISOs, zoning, panel schedules, setpoint schedules).
- Perform substation design activities and ensure integration with plant power systems.
- Conduct field verification and site visits to validate drawings and tie-in locations.
- Collaborate with workshare and HVEC offices to complete deliverables efficiently.
- Mentor junior designers and provide leadership within the team.
- Participate in client, vendor, and project meetings.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/Qualifications/Training/Certification:
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in electrical design for Oil & Gas or Petrochemical facilities.
- Proficiency with industrial power distribution and heat tracing systems.
- Substation design experience required.
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards.
- EPC/EPCM project experience preferred.
- Familiarity with AVEVA E3D or other 3D design software is an asset.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage workload, and maintain strong client relationships.
Communication:
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
