About the job:
Kent is looking for Electrical Commissioning LOTO Technician to be based in Vidor, TX. An Electrical Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Technician plays a crucial Role in ensuring the safety of personnel working on or around electrical equipment by following strict protocols to isolate energy sources. Her are the primary job requirements and responsibilities.

Responsibilities: - Work in a team environment to provide the best lockout services in the industry.
- Identify machines and equipment subject to LOTO procedures. Identifying all energy sources for the equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and components.
- Ability to read and interpret Single line Drawings, technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in LOTO procedures and OSHA regulations, particularly related to electrical systems.
- Ability to build LOTO Isolation and identify and isolate hazardous energy sources, such as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic energy.
- Conducting and documenting safety audits to ensure compliance with LOTO procedures.
- Skilled in assessing risks and identifying potential hazards before initiating any electrical work.
- Able to operate and commission LV, MV, and HV along with switchgear.
- Knowledgeable in protection relays and protection control systems.
- Carries out electrical function test as per project LOTO procedures.
- Clear communication with Commissioning teams, supervisors, and operators about lockout status and safety measures.
- Maintain accurate records of LOTO activities, such as tagging and lockout times, authorized personnel, and equipment status.
- Always demonstrate personal HSSE leadership and excellent HSE behaviors and ensure that safety expectations are communicated and maintained.
- Attend all mandatory training as specified in HSE and Permit to Work training schedule.
- Ensure all team members are fully aware and understand all the projects’ safe working practices and adhere to them to maintain a SAFE working environment.
- Coordinate installation, removal, and modification of LOTO’s as required to support system turnover and permit to work to ensure the safety of all parties.
- Solving problems using a combination of standard procedures, modification of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments and supporting junior technicians.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development. |
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: | |
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: - Minimum 5+ years of LOTO, Commissioning electrical or technical certification or equivalent experience.
- OSHA 1910.147 for Lockout/Tagout, are often required, along with training in safety protocols and industrial machinery. Knowledge of best practice and procedures in line with large-scale industrial projects.
- Some roles may require additional OSHA or NFPA 70E certification.
- Trained and familiar with System Completions database including B and C check sheets.
- Knowledge of best practice and procedures in line with large-scale industrial projects.
- Fully trained in all Safety related subjects outlined by Company such as Environment Concerns, Safe Operations, Emergency Response, JHA, PTW, MOC.
- Fully trained in Incident & Injury Free and fully understand the expectations, duties, and responsibilities
- Complete Pre-Commissioning/Commissioning activities as per project procedures.
- Full understanding of Permit to Work systems, able to sign for work permits, lead the Toolbox Talk and ensure the JHA is fully understood by technicians and trainees.
- Fully trained in Schematic and Single Line Diagram reading.
- Fully trained in the use of hand tools, operation of test equipment.
- Knowledge of P&ID and instrument loop diagrams.
