About the job:
Kent is looking for Electrical Commissioning LOTO Technician to support the team on a multi-year project based in multiple locations (starting in North Slope, Alaska).
Skills and Responsibilities: |
Responsibilities: - Collaborate effectively in team environments to deliver industry-leading lockout/tagout (LOTO) services.
- Identify machines and equipment subject to LOTO procedures, including comprehensive identification of all associated energy sources.
- Possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and components.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting single-line diagrams (SLD), Schematics, wiring diagrams, and General Arrangement /blueprints.
- Demonstrated expertise in LOTO procedures and OSHA regulations, with a focus on electrical safety compliance.
- Capable of designing and implementing LOTO isolations, including the identification and control of hazardous energy sources such as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct and document safety audits to ensure strict adherence to LOTO protocols.
- Skilled in risk assessment and hazard identification prior to initiating electrical work.
- Experienced in operating and commissioning low, medium, and high-voltage systems, including switchgear.
- Knowledgeable in protection relays and protection control systems.
- Perform electrical function testing in accordance with project-specific LOTO procedures.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with commissioning teams, supervisors, and operators regarding lockout status and safety measures.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of LOTO activities, including tagging, lockout times, authorized personnel, and equipment status.
- Consistently demonstrate strong HSSE leadership and uphold high standards of health, safety, and environmental behavior.
- Attend all mandatory HSE and Permit to Work training sessions as required.
- Ensure all team members understand and adhere to project-specific safe work practices to maintain a secure working environment.
- Coordinate the installation, removal, and modification of LOTO systems to support system turnover and permit-to-work processes.
- Apply problem-solving skills using standard procedures, adaptations of established methods, and insights from prior experience; provide guidance and support to junior technicians.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: | |
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: - Minimum 5+ years of LOTO, Commissioning electrical or technical certification or equivalent experience.
- OSHA 1910.147 for Lockout/Tagout, are often required, along with training in safety protocols and industrial machinery. Knowledge of best practice and procedures in line with large-scale industrial projects.
- Some roles may require additional OSHA or NFPA 70E certification.
- Trained and familiar with System Completions database including B and C check sheets.
- Knowledge of best practice and procedures in line with large-scale industrial projects.
- Fully trained in all Safety related subjects outlined by Company such as Environment Concerns, Safe Operations, Emergency Response, JHA, PTW, MOC.
- Fully trained in Incident & Injury Free and fully understand the expectations, duties, and responsibilities
- Complete Pre-Commissioning/Commissioning activities as per project procedures.
- Full understanding of Permit to Work systems, able to sign for work permits, lead the Toolbox Talk and ensure the JHA is fully understood by technicians and trainees.
- Fully trained in Schematic and Single Line Diagram reading.
- Fully trained in the use of hand tools, operation of test equipment.
- Knowledge of P&ID and instrument loop diagrams.
