About the job:

Kent is looking for a Commissioning Planner to support the planning, scheduling, and progress tracking of commissioning, pre-commissioning, and completions activities. This role is key to aligning systems readiness with project milestones and ensuring safe and efficient turnover to operations.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the focal point for all commissioning-related planning and scheduling activities within assigned scopes
  • Develop and maintain integrated commissioning schedules aligned with system/subsystem breakdowns and turnover priorities
  • Interface with commissioning leads, discipline engineers, construction, and operations teams to develop work sequences and activity logic
  • Track Mechanical Completion (MC), Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, and Ready-for-Start-Up milestones
  • Monitor progress in the Systems Completion Database (SCDB) and generate weekly/monthly reporting, S-curves, and lookaheads
  • Analyse critical paths and near-critical paths within commissioning and completions scope
  • Prepare resource histograms and forecasts for commissioning manpower, vendors, and support needs
  • Produce resources manhours S-Curves and maintain weekly
  • Develop and analyze Level 1 and 2 forecasting schedules
  • Develop manhour estimates and able to perform resource leveling
  • Support Level 4 and Level 5 planning development for discipline-specific and area/system-based commissioning work
  • Provide schedule updates, identify slippages or risks, and recommend mitigation or recovery plans
  • Assist in planning for system turnovers and support development of Turnover and Handover packages
  • Collaborate with project controls and completions teams to align commissioning readiness with project progress
  • Manage and present in schedule risk reviews, change assessments, and reporting to project leadership
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings with commissioning, construction, and operations stakeholders
  • Ensure progress is tracked consistently across P6, SCDB, and field reports

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Project/Construction Management, or related field
  • 7+ years of planning/scheduling experience in the Oil & Gas industry with at least 3 years supporting commissioning and completions phases
  • Strong experience with Primavera P6 and Systems Completion/SCDB tools
  • Familiarity with work breakdown structures (WBS), system/subsystem handovers, and punch closure tracking
  • Ability to produce resource forecasts, progress curves, and performance metrics
  • Excellent understanding of project execution flow, commissioning logic, and interfaces
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Outlook, Word, SharePoint (Power BI experience is a plus)
  • CCP/T from AACEI is an asset

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
