About the job:

Kent is looking for a Construction Planner/Scheduler to be based in LaPorte, TX.

You will examine plans for a project and developing a workable schedule, as well as making recommendations on existing schedules to increase productivity, decrease cost, and balance the workload

Basic Job Requirements
  • Develop project controls and planning execution strategy
  • Be able to produce schedules for both engineering and construction projects with a good level of skill and understanding of construction and engineering planning and programming principles, standards and methodology
  • Produce engineering resource management charts from P6
  • Be pragmatic in schedule definition to cater for each project
  • Create schedules that can integrate into the project level and maintain the asset standards in scheduling
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise and effectively deliver to timelines and department rhythms
  • Work with Project Managers across multiple contract to meet their reporting requirements on schedule and key milestones
  • Prepare reporting on the various schedules
  • Produce internal and external client reports

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (civil / structure / mechanical), architectural, quantity surveying, construction management
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a similar role
  • Experience with Primavera P6
  • Desired experience with Ecosys
  • Proficient with the use of email, word, excel & MS Project
  • Demonstrated efficiency in a technical and administrative role within an engineering team
  • Excellent manpower planning, scheduling and project management skills
  • Capability with prioritising tasks
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • Good communication skills, both verbal & written
  • Excellent comprehension skills that enable review of client instructions, technical data, company records to ensure compliance
  • Ability to evaluate issues that may affect planned activities and quickly negotiate and implement recovery actions to keep the plan on track
  • Strong problem-solving skills
