About the job:
Kent is looking for a Completions Lead to support the Imperial Oil – Kearl In-Pit Tailings Area 2 (ITA2) Project in Fort McKay, Alberta. The Completions Lead is accountable for the execution, coordination, and governance of systems completion activities in alignment with ITA 2 Completions and Commissioning Execution Plan. The role ensures disciplined Mechanical Completion certification, SCDB governance, turnover readiness, and seamless transition of systems from Construction through Commissioning and into Operations.

Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:

Systems Completion & Turnover Governance
• Lead execution of the Completions process from MC to Turnover.
• Govern KSMJV implementation and use of the Hexagon Systems Completion Database (SCDB).
• Ensure compliance with certification requirements including A, B, and C check sheets and staged gate progression (MC, Ready for Commissioning, RFSU).
• Manage Master Punch List and Exceptions Register, ensuring no Category A items remain at Mechanical Completion.
• Lead MC and Turnover Dossier development and validation process prior to presenting to client.

Mechanical Completion Leadership
• Coordinate and lead MC walkdowns in accordance with project completions guidelines.
• Ensure all documentation, RFIs, redlines, and construction deliverables are complete prior to MC certification.
• Validate preservation requirements at MC and ensure proper transfer of care, custody, and control.
• Drive resolution of punch items impacting schedule or safety.

Interface & Contractor Coordination
• Interface with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, QA/QC, HSE, Operations, Client CMT, and Production Project Contractors.
• Provide completions input into construction sequencing, energization planning, and start-up readiness.
• Support alignment between SCDB data, field status, and commissioning schedule logic.
• Coordinate vendor documentation and data books required for turnover.

HSSEQ, Quality & Compliance
• Champion Client PSMS requirements and Kent HSSE standards within all systems completion activities.
• Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation, ABSA (where applicable), CSA standards, and client specifications.
• Ensure proper implementation of work management systems including LOTO, isolation control, permit to work, and Safety-in-Transition processes.
• Lead resolution of non-conformances and quality deficiencies affecting certification.

Performance & Reporting
• Track and report system readiness metrics, certification progress, and punch item trends.
• Develop dashboards and KPI reporting aligned with project milestones.
• Support workforce planning and mobilization strategy in alignment with commissioning sequence.
• Apply lessons learned to improve certification efficiency and reduce rework.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
• Technical diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in systems completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning on oil & gas, mining, or large-scale industrial projects.
Skills Requirement:
• Demonstrated experience leading SCDB implementation and turnover governance on major capital projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Systems Completion processes, commissioning methodologies, and turnover documentation standards.
• Computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.

Communication:
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines, contractors, client representatives, and senior project leadership.
• Encourages two –way communication; confirms that the message has been understood and seeks feedback.

• Ability to manage multiple work fronts while maintaining schedule discipline and a strong safety culture.
