About the job:
Kent is looking for a Business Development Director. Responsible for developing sales strategies to align with corporate and business unit objectives within the Americas region. You will be accountable for meeting sales targets for Canada, improving the company’s market position, driving customer satisfaction, and achieving financial goals. You will define, drive and execute the growth strategy to support short and long-term goals within Canada and aligned with Americas region and provide direction and leadership to achieve strategic goals. Position will be based in Calgary, AB.
Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic vision to grow our footprint with existing and new clients.
  • Accountable for achieving sales targets by growing market share through the sale of all service offerings.
  • Develop sales strategy and account plan to penetrate and grow accounts while maintaining Kent KPI in relation to EBITDA and cashflow.
  • Lead proposal development, conduct presentations, negotiate pricing, and secure contracts.
  • Track project delivery and ensure the customer is extremely satisfied by experience.
  • Research existing accounts, identify opportunities for expanding service offerings and ensure accounts are managed according to Kent’s business objectives.
  • Possess understanding of key clients, market sectors, competition and the value Kent brings and how to promote and sell.
  • Achieve sales quotas and other key sales objectives as established by the executive management team.
  • Leverage existing network of working relationships with Oil & Gas Owners in Canada.
  • Screen potential opportunities by analyzing market strategies, contract requirements, growth potential and financials, evaluating options, resolving internal priorities, and recommending to proceed.
  • Promote a customer-oriented focus and advocate consultative customer relationships.
  • Monitor, evaluate and manage the regional sales team’s performance to ensure they’re meeting their targets, including providing feedback, guidance, coaching and conducting regular performance reviews. Your role is to identify areas of strengths and improvement, and work with the team to bridge gaps and continuously improve their performance.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering preferred, MBA desired.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in business development of engineering and construction projects services and/or industry work experience in a technical position across Americas.
  • An established proven track record of delivering sales and network among industry clients.
  • Proven track record of success with key clients and experience establishing new clients through cold calling, research, and networking.
  • An extensive network of contacts across the oil and gas sector.
  • Proven track record of leading sales effort to achieve significant sales targets.
  • Proven management skills, including the ability to manage and coach team members, set priorities, and delegate tasks.
Communication:
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills and excellent listening skills required.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
  • Strong negotiating and deal closing skills and proven ability to maintain strong business relationships.
  • Persistent and results focused.
  • Self-driven with ability to work across multiple functions and part of larger team.
  • Relationship oriented and accustomed to networking.
  • Proficient in Salesforce and PowerPoint as well as understanding basic commercial elements of the bid process.
  • Ability to travel and work outside normal working hours
