About the job:

Kent is looking for an API Inspector to be based in Beaumont, TX and support our client project site(s).

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Pool Inspector - perform 510/570 walk downs on process piping and equipment.
  • Unit Inspector.
  • Interface with Unit Business Teams and Engineering personnel
  • Ability to organize and effectively relay pertinent information in running maintenance as well as outage scenarios.
  • Understanding of NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) methods and applications
  • Flexibility to adapt to Unit needs (after hours & off shift response) when required. Current Schedule is 5 days 48hr week (subject to change at any time).
  • Perform detailed inspections and testing of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
  • Utilize various inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Accurately record and document inspection results, including measurements, deviations, and non-conformances
  • Ensure that all quality records are properly maintained and accessible for audit purposes
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming products or processes
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure that all inspection tools and equipment are properly calibrated and maintained, conducting regular checks and coordinating with external calibration services as needed
  • Assist in the evaluation and monitoring of supplier quality by conducting inspections of incoming materials and components, providing feedback to suppliers regarding quality issues and working with procurement to address concerns
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement in inspection processes, techniques, and tools
  • Participate in quality improvement projects and suggest innovative solutions
  • Provide training and guidance to junior quality technicians, ensuring they understand and follow quality control procedures, and act as a mentor to help develop their technical skills and knowledge
  • Ensure that all quality control activities are conducted in compliance with HSE regulations and company policies, reporting any safety hazards or incidents immediately
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the production process
  • Prepare and present quality reports to the Quality Manager and other stakeholders, highlighting key findings, trends, and recommendations for improvement.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Diploma or College Degree in relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant API Inspection experience.
  • API Certified (510 & 570 preferred)
  • Knowledgeable execution of RBI (Risk-Based Inspection) functions.
  • Understanding of appropriate code application for construction and regulatory compliance.

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in multiple groups in a team-oriented environment and independently when necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Foster good relationships and team working ethic with sub-contract teams to promote safe working practices and efficiency.
  • Experience of working in an integrated team from diverse locations required.
