About the job:
Kent is looking for a Mechanical Preservation Technician to support the team on a multi-year project based in Ingleside, Texas. This individual will be responsible for the preservation, inspection, and pre-commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring asset integrity, reliability, and operational readiness.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
• Execute preservation activities for mechanical equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, piping systems, vessels, and rotating equipment.
• Perform shaft rotation, lubrication, greasing, and fluid circulation activities in accordance with preservation procedures.
• Apply and maintain preservation methods such as protective coatings, oil misting, nitrogen blanketing, and desiccant installation.
• Monitor environmental conditions (humidity, temperature) and ensure proper protection of equipment during storage and installation.
• Conduct pre-commissioning inspections to verify mechanical installation meets design specifications and preservation standards.
• Identify and rectify issues such as corrosion, misalignment, contamination, or mechanical damage.
• Support flushing, cleaning, pressure testing, and leak testing of mechanical systems.
• Ensure proper preservation of piping systems, including internal cleaning, drying, and sealing.
• Maintain detailed preservation and inspection records for all mechanical equipment.
• Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and QA/QC teams to ensure system readiness.
• Assist with equipment handover, punch list resolution, and startup preparation.
• Ensure safe handling of tools, materials, and equipment in compliance with site safety procedures.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical commissioning, construction, or preservation within Oil & Gas or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of rotating and static equipment preservation practices.
• Experience with lubrication systems, alignment basics, and mechanical integrity checks.
• Familiarity with industry standards related to mechanical systems (API, ASME, etc.).
• Experience supporting pre-commissioning and startup activities is preferred.
Communication:
• Read, write, and speak fluent English, with a strong ability to communicate across multidisciplinary teams.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on asset longevity and reliability.
• Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging environments.
