About the Job:
Kent is looking for a Telecom Technician to support telecommunications systems and infrastructure at Kearl. This is a site-based role, working within the plant telecom team and supporting a wide range of telecom activities including security systems, fiber optics, and communication infrastructure as required. This position operates on a 14/14 FIFO rotation from Edmonton or Calgary, working day shifts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, and configuration of hardware and software components.
- Perform troubleshooting, hardware, and software issues on a different system.
- Perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of Card Access Systems which include panels, cards, cabling, and all associated programming in Genetec Platform.
- Perform installation of Digital Camera’s and associated cabling and hardware with options of interfacing them onto the Genetec System.
- Assist other telecom disciplines with other scopes.
- Assist with Fiber Optic systems.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Qualification/ Certification:
- Certificate and/or relevant courses in telecommunications
- Electrical trade certification may also be considered
- Knowledge and Experience utilizing the Genetec Security Platform
- Knowledge and Experience in Digital Security Camera’s including but not limited to Hernis, Axis and Avigilon.
- Knowledge of Tyco Safety systems (PAGA).
Communication
- Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a client-facing, team-based environment.
