About the job:

This is Field Service Technician role within a mining environment. You will be part of team that performs telecom maintenance on a fleet of heavy mining equipment and support equipment. You will be working in support shops, mine and the active autonomous area.
You will be responsible for preventative, reactive and break-in maintenance.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Must have great organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong understanding of DC power (12v/24v/48v)
  • Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to adapt to changes in the field.
  • Good understanding of IP networking, RF, Microwave, wifi, lte
  • Strong Computer Skills is mandatory with various software including Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to drill, tap and mount hardware. Including cutting, fabricating, and assembling steel brackets.
  • Ability to follow diagrams and procedures whilst always looking to improve how we can better serve the client.
  • Ability to terminate/test coaxial cable (LMR400/LMR195/RJ45)
  • Ability to terminate/test data cables (CAT5/5e/6)
  • Ability to use a range of test equipment for radio troubleshooting (DTX, Sitehawk, PIM, Anritsu)
  • Ability to install various systems on Heavy equipment (CAT, Komatsu) and light vehicles
  • Troubleshooting FLIR infra-red cameras
  • Troubleshooting satellite radio (Sirius)
  • Working and setting up LTE towers and related equipment
  • Tower climbing
  • Working at height from a MEWP/AWP
  • Working on solar/Efoy powered communications trailers
  • Working on Tyresense tire monitoring system
  • Experience working with AVI radios and CCMS

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Minimum – Electronics/Electrical/Communications diploma or trade certificate in a related field
  • Experience with Minestar system
  • Experience working with Cambium, Ubiquiti & Cisco Products.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • 2-way radio experience, preferably with Motorola systems.
  • Experience with working with Solar powered systems

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Safety sensitive position – the ability to use good judgement when completing work and reporting any safety concerns that arise – (Using Hazard assessment documents/Permits)
  • Able to lift 50lbs - This role is physically demanding and requires you to work in some tight and awkward areas for long periods of time (Fit Test will be conducted before being hired)
  • Candidate must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders on Heavy Equipment while carrying tools and materials several times during the course of any task on the unit.
  • Strong Reading, Writing and Communication in English is a must.
  • Competent driving and winter driving skills– Mine driving experience an asset.
  • Able to tow and back up double axel trailers.
  • This job requires you to work night shift on (a rotational basis).
  • Able to work outdoors in all seasons of the year including -40 C conditions (within OHS standards and guidelines)
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Be competent and confident in operating AWPs
