About the job:
Kent is looking for a Project Manager to support our client’s projects in Bayport, TX.
| Basic Job Requirements |
Project Management - Responsible for development of the project scope, budget, and schedule of capital project(s), including preparation and implementation of Project Execution Plan.
- Lead FEL process, completing stage gate deliverables and reviews, and obtaining management approvals.
- Develop bid packages and work with procurement to bid, evaluate, and award work.
- Coordinate resources to perform up front engineering and development of estimates.
- Manage project requests and backlog. Confirm accuracy of cost estimates as well as monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Develop, gain approval for, and manage to project KPI’s and metrics.
- Lead development of a risk management plan.
- Prepare and give presentations to various levels of Company management and other stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are closed in a timely manner following mechanical completion.
- Develop projects inline with Turnaround milestones.
Team Management - Assemble a team to effectively execute the project.
- Understand contracts and manage contractors to maximize performance, control costs and minimize claims and change orders.
- Ensure plant Operations and Maintenance personal are engaged and that they understand their responsibilities.
Project Engineering - Provide technical direction to contractor staff to ensure compliance with philosophies, codes and standards and delivery of the project goals.
- Establish and lead processes to ensure the engineering and design integrity is not compromised during the design, construction execution and commissioning phases.
- Accountable for engineering activities from basic engineering to detailed engineering through start-up, to meet the target start-up dates, budget, facilities engineering design integrity, and HSE performance for the project.
- Provide technical support to the operations team during preparation for start-up and up to normal operation.
- Contribute to establishing common engineering codes and standards.
- Maintain and update unit technical records including the establishment of new equipment files, the organization of relief valve specifications and calculations and the updating of training materials for the unit.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. - 5 years of chemical plant experience.
- 10 years of experience with direct responsibility for projects.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards: e.g. ASME, API, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, ect.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with scheduling software like Microsoft Project.
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong influencing skills with those individuals/teams they do not directly supervise
- Proactive leadership, change management and team building skills and experience.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast pace environment.
- Ability to present updates to the project team and management.

HSSEQ: The Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company; it’s clients and the governing authorities of the host country. - Set safety expectations for the project and lead the team to achieve safety goals. Serve as job representative and address all safety issues that arise with contractors brought on site for the execution of capital projects to deliver best-in-class HSE performance.
- Support Process Hazard Analysis and Management of Change (MOCs).
- Update required drawings, and records and final documentation of project changes to maintain proper integrity management.
- Ensure new installations adhere to INEOS Group Guidance Notes.
- Ensure technical resolution of all resultant recommendations from major unit PHA or HAZOP studies and other safety audits.
- Complete all assigned action items from PHAs, incidents, audits, etc in a timely manner and keep status and plans for action items updated.
- Maintain safety as the highest priority of the plant.
- Maintain the 20 Principles of Safety.
- Adhere to and uphold all safety policies and standards.
